I have a 2006 SXR and some back ground on it:
ADA head with 28cc domes
Dry pipe
fresh rings spring 08'
10/18 large hub prop (getting it re-pitched)

Stock summer 06', moded summer 2007 with wet pipe. Dry pipe, ada head and fresh rings added summer 2009. No other mods since then, same pistons and crank and rings.

I was thinking of boreing it out 1mm to make it a true 800CC motor so new pistons, new rings and rod bearings. Now my question is should I get my crank rebuilt, its 5 years old and has been ridden fairy hard every summer but always maintained. I’m also looking at adding a new light weight flywheel. Should I have my crank rebuilt, look at getting a new one or leave it as is provided it’s not lose or out of spec.

never hurts to have it redone while you are there, think of it as an insurance policy so to speak

i went with a Hot Rods crank, had it true/welded and hybrid bearings installed
wasn't that much $$ either, crank works did it
personally i would overbore as needed, if not needed, clean up what you have and save a bore... you never know...

that crank is a timebomb at this point. Get it done while your in there...it could take out your cyllinder, cases, pistons...everything.

I did some port work on my ski in the beinging of last summer and it made a huge difference, in fact i need to get my 10/18 prop re-pitched becasue i am spinning it out off the start.

this has got me thinking. I've been all stock since I purchased in '07, ridden medium-hard summer 07, 08, 09. Not at all in 2010. I'm probly doing the group k sleeper kit (milling, porting, boring/jetting carbs + boring exit nozzle & lighten flywheel) and getting a hooker 9/15 in the next few weeks. I don't know maybe I don't really need to rebuild the crank yet that's what I'm thinking.
