Have a stock 2007 sxr and looking for some good race mods.

If you're racing stock class, you can send your cylinder to GroupK and they will bore it up to the max legal limit 850cc. That will give it some good power for a stocker. Its pretty cheap too considering what you get.

I would go to a local event and talk to people. Find out who runs the show up there and get a rule book. Unless you are positive that the rules are identical between US and Canada.

Shredmaster, definitely. Not so easy at first but rewarding after.

Wanderer1 is right, go to a race or practice and talk to some racers about their setups. We all know that picking a ride plate/intake grate is personal to your riding style. I have several plates, but prefer the TBM ride plate with a Skat stainless intake grate, but everyone is different.

A couple of things if you're looking to race "stock" class, you want to look into drying out your exhaust system and thinning your stock prop.
