sxr question

hey guys just wondering i took my 04 sxr800 out today and had some problems. when i stand up and start going it will bog real quick then shut off. the day before it got alot of water in it because i fell alot im new to this so i cleaned the carbs by spraying some fogging in the carbs. and i also changed the plugs just to make sure that wasnt it and it was still doing it. im thinking either a fuel issue or a friend had told me maybe its over heating but he said it shouldnt shut off on its own. also it wont do it if i hook a hose up to it. it has to be in the water. so if anyone can help that would be great. thank you

Overheating won't make it shut off. You may have water in your fuel which is wetting the plugs. Of course, that doesn't explain why it runs on the hose.

ttt, i am in a similar situation. My SJ bogs on the water, but not on the trailer, and it idles fine.

I think mine is a fuel problem (lines, filters, or water in fuel), because the only time it does it is when my 250 pound @$$ is trying to get it out of the water.

Exhaust leak. Check for smoke if it does it with the hood on and not with the hood. It could be choking itself out with exhaust.

hmm i was going to mess with it today but i dont have anywhere close where i can put it in the water so im going to have to wait a week or so. which blows. im prob going to drain all the gas how could water have gotten it the gas?

ok so i put the hose to it todday to check for exhaust leaks and see if it would mess up. it ran fine so its definetly when its only in water i let it run for like 5 or 10 min and it ran fine. so im a little confused. any ideas anyone?
