How do i stop or at least limit the amout of water that comes through the intake on my 06 sxr-800 hood...every time i sub or nose tap i get like 10 gallons of water in my ski...it is killing my bilge pump!!!

Two things will help there:

1. Keeping it out, you can cover the hole at the front as long as you open up a similar sized hole at the rear of the hood on the underside opposite the other opening. Just make sure you don't limit your airflow with a smaller hole.

2. Get it out quicker, throw a scupper in there, I've got blowsions oneway in mine and it empties the hull in no time.

Check out this post... blowsion sells a block of plate, that has a little opening left water drainage... or, just use duct tape...

gp to reply number 24 for the pic... you'll also see in that same reply the next pic showing to drill a hole under the rear part of the hood for additional water draining from the hood. You might go with a large hole there though.

I used duct tape last season and opened the back hole. It worked great. Put some hood straps on there before you blow your hood off going under water.

Scupper is king. Get one.

This will solve yer problem-guaranteed!!!http://www.x-h2o.com/threads/1935
look at 2nd post of pics-there are 2 of my hood-front where I blocked off hole
and rear where I made another whole w/dremel tool. Fast, easy, and free. Duct tape will hold just fine on frt hole you are trying to block off-I made a plate out of lexan for the bling factor-tooooo dam much time on my hands!!!
I have a bilge pump for emergencies in the gulf and I had to roll my ski over in the lake w/hood off to make sure bilge worked. I do fountains and subs all the time-no water.

The Blowsion Block off, duct tape and or anything else you use to block it off will work great. Mine is so dry now the pump hardly ever comes on. The SXR is set up more for racing, so thats why the hole is there. It lets in a ton of air, that you do not need. You should open the back up more than my picture shows, although I ran mine all last year without an extra hole in the back and it worked fine.
