SXR SXR 800 taking on water

Hello, Is it normal for water to get into engine compartment when playing around? Had the nose/bars under water a few times. Machine is 2006 SXR800. Hood was on properly.
Im new to stand ups. Any Comments or sugestions are appreciated.

its normal. with the ski under water your gonna get water into the engine compartment through the vent holes on the hood. if your gonna be subing or even nose stabs just get a bilge pump to pump that water out and keep on ridin

no you can still play around but without the bilge your gonna wanna play around and then pull up on shore and check to see where the water level is. just tip the ski on its side to get the water out. thats what i used to do before i got a bilge. youll start to feel the water in the hull when your riding around

I would suggest getting a bilge regardless. Blowsion makes a sweet single and double bracket and they carry the bilge too. It's an easy job that could save your ski in a bad situation.
you could also get a versaplug.
i run both

blowsion also makes a plate/plug for the air hole in the front of the hood. i used to make my own and also the front seam on those hoods isnt sealed. take the hood off and stuff a garden hose in there and use silicone to close up where the water dumps out. also do the factory pipe air intake mod on the back of the hood once you get all the up front leaks fixed.
