hahaha! small world eh derm? so i guess we know where to start, coil wires, drain valve, electrical, reeds. Derm, how did u leave the set screws on the carbs? Does it still have factory jets? Kx454, hold off on that nozzle, but i may take u up on it later in the summer...
Yea derm, the water up here is pretty cold this time of year.

this ski look familiar?

Carbs are jeted to FP spec's, They suggested 75's and a note said some have luck w/80's. I think the 80's are in there now. Order new carb base gaskets the ones in there are just about shot. I never took the reeds off, but the gasket looked overloaded w/silicon. May start w/the reeds.

so today we took off the carbs, they look good, reeds looked ok. Tomorrow were guna clip off sum of the coil wires, they were pretty corroded. So now we just gotta check for a possible air leak, or sumthin electrical

we just clipped the wires, they looked ok. Going to order new boots though. Got carb back in place. Next step, check for that air leak or electrical. Problem could already be fixed, cant tell until we get it out on the water...

maybe?

well tomorrow its suppose to be 67 degrees....rivers prolly like frozen, but what the heck. my new plug caps didnt come yet, and we still gotta register the trailer. So I really want to get it on the water tomorrow to see how the prop, cone, and if the fresh cut wires helped. (may also try different setting on carbs) so im guna bug my dad to throw it in the back of the van 1 last time to freeze my butt off rain or shine. im guna try real hard to see if i can narrow down where th problem is comming from... Also trying to get sum good pictures, now that i cleaned it up a bit. Just ordered sum new 0 degree bars n grips. So ill reply back sum time soon hopefully

:woot: yep it works pretty good now. We took it down to the river (cold) and i got a quick run in. rode around for 5 minutes n brought it back to the ramp, took the hood off n found we had a small leak from one of the screws form the pipe. But the trip wasnt a loss, found out the ski/cone/impellar works good. Not much bottom end though, could be the pipe might not be tuned? but i need more bottom end! n e way so we took it home tightened the screws, and went back to the river for another run. still ran pretty good. ran round for 5 minutes, n checked inside. found one of the screws missing from the pipe. we prolly wuldnt have this pipe problem if we never took it apart to begin with. so now we gotta go out n fixed the screw hole cuz its pretty mich stripped. but other wise problem solved! now all i need is bottom end! i got $200 gimme sum ideas. IM thinkin milled head??, bigger nozzle? n of course tune da pipe:biggthumpup:
Iwant this bad boy to rip my arms off

Kick ass !! :Banane01:

I wanted to get that ski to rip my arms off too, just never happened. Yea the pipe when I got it was pretty locked up in the screws, but they usually do not make it slug like it did. So you have a good top end now?

Go for a new blade, the blade that was in there was from a 93 sx, (low pitch) to add more pull, but that didn't help, and then I was getting ready to give it a viking funeral. But ebay was my last resort....like I said on ebay, "just doesn't brap"

yea i guess you can say its got pretty good top end. kinda runs like my 550, but stronger/harder. I actually did put on an 8/16 prop with a wet wolf cone. It doesnt seem to make a ton of difference, but it did make some now i gotta make a lot more bottom end, it barely has any. I was gettin ready to give up on it and find sumthin better. but now that i know it still has some life in it, im not guna stop till its a beast.

So does anyone got a milled head they would be wiling to part with?

today tapped in new screws for the pipe ( hopefully the last time ) and made sure they were tightened good. now just gotta get new bildge wires. so just gotta tune that pipe, will probably wait till spring though, that water's purdy cold...

it accelerates good, but no hole shot at all really. gets goin pretty fast though. yea we actually did check the temp of the pipe, my dad dripped some water on it n said it was running cold? i dunno if that good/bad but on the factory pipe site its suppose to sizzle? we have no idea how the pipe is set. So after we get it on the new trailer, we're guna take it down to the river again n try to tune it.

I would guess the same as the SJ with a pipe... Should be hot. Just touchable but bearable to hold. Most of the screws should be bottomed out and then (i believe) 1st one is closed, 2nd 1/2 turn out, last 5/8 turn out.

for bottom end and under 200 bux, lighten or find a used aluminum flywheel
did wonders on my kaw.

mill the head too
can prolly do both for just about 200 i guess

word of truth though, finding bottom end on a kaw is the hardest thing to do, it can be done for a pice
one reason i ride old blue now
