sxi bottom end

Im looking for more bottom end on my 96' 750 sxi. I already have a pipe ( needs tuned ) and have fixed the performance problems, now just need more " brap " i have about $250 in my pocket. I also already have a cone, and an 8/16 prop which works ok, which ill prolly be switching after tuning the pipe. Im looking for fairly simple mods because my hands hurt from wrenching, but ill do what i have to to get my ski to rip my arms off without buying a superjet. Thanks

im not sure if anyone had mentioned it to you yet, but youd probably be happier selling your 750 and getting a superjet as most people that do are.

yea i did post somethin about it, but havent gotten any real specific responses, and now that the ski is mostly "fixed",i can do mods to it knowing it will run. I thought about gettin a superjet, but my sxi already has footholds, bildge, limiting rope, pipe, cone, prop, ride plate, scoop grate, switched to premix, umi bars, new grips, n throttle. And i havent seen a single add for a superjet around here, so instead of sittin around for a ski i havent seen yet, i figured ill take what i got n go with it.

get that pipe dialed in and that will help. you can add a dual carb setup or a larger single setup with a performance intake as well that will help. also the advanced timing plate and lightened flywheel..

Find a 750 sx cylinder then put in more compression, or mill about .040 off the bottom of the sxi cylinder and use an ADA head with custom squish domes to now clearance the pop up pistons, advanced timing helps too.

my dad said more compression would help, i believe it is about 150 in both right now. It also has dual keihien carbs with stock arrester. So i guess ill start looking for a milled head on e-bay or on this site. Possibly timing or flywheel... Thanks

Group K can mill your head and lighten your flywheel for under $200. Great bang for the buck. I did it on my SXI pro. It'll wake up the bottom end, for sure! Plus, you don't have to do any tuning and it is still very reliable. It'll run just like before, but faster outta the hole.

Im not so sure about the flywheel, im not too excited about pulling my engine out... Although the head and timing i can do. Anyone know what kind of timing advance (brand, kind, etc.) I should get?and what exactly are they? Kurrupt said for about 40-50 bucks, that would be great. If anyone has an extra head, or knows where i can get one i would appreciate it. I dont wana yank off my head just yet cuz were guna tune my pipe. hopefully sometime soon.

The flywheel is easy to pull. You should be able to do it right in the ski. It pops right off with an impact. Makes a HUGE difference. You'll have the cover off to do the timing advance anyway. If you do need to, the motor comes out in 15 minutes. Takes about 45 to put back.

OK Sounds good, ill think about it for a couple days n look around before i do anything crazy. Definately gotta tune the pipe. Bilge pump is broke now, so thatll keep me busy for a couple days. darned thing just stopped working, i tink wires are bad... But thanks dj n everyone else, youve been helpful!

I know you don't want to get rid of your SXI. My first ski was an SXI . . . and everytime I asked what I should do to get more bottom end out of it, the answer I got was - "Buy a Superjet." I didn't want to hear it, and so I kept my SXI for a couple of years before I made the leap to the superjet. I got it bone stock (91 650 SJ) and I had to do everything to it - footholds, re-inforcing, scupper, 701, etc. In spite of all the trouble I have never regretted it. I only wish I had bought the SJ sooner.

I know this in no ways answers your question, but I just don't want to see someone else suffering (like I did when I had my kawi) any longer than they have to.

The first time I rode an SJ v/s my SX I knew I had to have one. It was about a month later I purchased one. I should have listened to speedfreak sooner.

Luckily Katie (my woman) rode SXR and an SJ then went out and purchased and SJ for her first ski.

Yea i can understand why everyone says to get a superjet. But i still have about 2-3 months before i can ride much anyway. So i dont consider one out of the question, but incase i cant find one, id like to have something to fall back on. I also kinda thought if i can do tricks on a kawi, then a superjet would be a piece of cake.
