more power in the surf is a good thing.. I came from the 61-x bla bla world (sucks).... Not going back to that weak ass power after ripping on my Magoo big bore... The is the problem in hand... People want to compare flatwater to surf, well, there is alot more to it than that... Florida happens to have 1-3ft waves 90% of the time... This is not too far off from flatwater IMO, you need the power to do big rolls off smaller waves and to get around on small backy's... I don't ride 10ft faces every day... maybe 4 times a year, if I'm lucky... and ya know what?... That power works pretty well under those conditions too... the bigger the wave the faster the wave moves the more power you will want/need to navigate and get out of trouble...
a side note: when I got my magoo motor it was very jerky to me and I couldn't ride smooth, cause the ski was soooo much more powerful... guess what I did??? I adjusted, like anyone would, got better and now I can use the power and my setup times are much shorter, I can roll off a 1ft roller and so on... the advantages of power outweigh the risk anyday IMO
