superjet starting?

05 that has started just fine until I rode it about 3 miles down the inland waterway. Stopped to give my finger a break and when I tried to start it, nothing....not even a sound. Where do I start?

I've replaced the on/off switch last year and its in good shape still I would think....

Thanks,

Battery is a couple years old and seems to run the pump fine, even if its low would you think it would at least make a sound when hitting the start button?

Having a voltmeter would help. The ground cable at the starter attachment point has been known to corrode " in two". Some batteries have suffered from cell separation - this applies to "flooded" batteries (the ones that have filler caps)

just read the op's second post. There are 2 short cable assy's exiting the right side of ebox. Disconnect the plug with the red and brown wire. The red wire is always "hot"- you can check it with a test light or meter. The brown wire energizes the solenoid. You can bend a paperclip and momentarily touch red and brown pins together, the solenoid should click- if the engine is indeed still grounded. You can use a temporary jumper cable from bat neg. to the top of cylinder for this test.

Thanks for the great reply....I am at the beach so my volt meter is not with me....but I will check this when I get home. Now that its up on the dock and not in the blowing wind, I believe I hear a slight click when I hit the button. If it clicks does that eliminate the solenoid issue?

I plan to take the battery out of the blaster and see if I get anything, will also check the ground cable....thanks again for the suggestions.

A slight click could mean the solenoid is sticking but I would think the battery is the culprit given that it is two years old and just out of nowhere sudden death. If it is a conventional lead/acid battery of generic brand, then two years is about the average life expectancy of them. Sounds like there is possibly a plate or two inside it that has arced together killing the power. I was going to suggest one other possible situation which may still apply, if you have never had your e-box opened before you may just want to unscrew the fuse plug and see if the fuse is getting wet and/or corroding. It's the strangest thing how fuses can be conductive but still fail. It seems to be an abundantly common problem with the Kawi ZXi 900 runabout skis. The fuse blocks usually look really good and conduct most times but when they start to act up it will drive you nuts trying to find the problem. I end up usually taking the fuse block out of them, buff the connection points with a Scotchbrite pad and a little coating of dielectric grease, problem solved. Seen it happen with the little round inline fuse connectors too. They just need to varnish a little bit to act up.

u were right Pulsion, it was the battery. I tried the one from the blaster and it fired right up. Went and got a new one at autozone and I think we are good to go. Help me understand though how it would still run the bilge pump but would not turn the motor over at all? Its like it went from 100-0 with no warning.

I put it in off a floating dock so Id imagine some water came in on the battery terminals possibly, could that have caused any issues?

Thanks again for the help...
