i have a 61x with a type 4 and a pro tec cdi. it runs like ********. didnt want to go at all and barley got up on plane. and now has no spark. the spart comes and goes every min or so. i need help. already changed the coil.

test your plug wires

cutting them back from the plug boot typically solves the problem

might also have a bad cdi, or a loose ground wire

iv cut them back and it ran. good but then stoped and now it runs when it wants to. what can it be s/s, stator, cdi?

not the s/s,
maybe on the cdi and a maybe on stator.

I would first test your plug wires, (its quick and easy) check for continuity with a meter by wiggling them every inch or so and see if theirs a break in the wires..


i'm no electrical expert

When it doesn't start...is it clicking? Or just turning over but not starting?

had ski in the other day and the ground was solid feeling, but when the ski ran for a few it would lose power to the cdi.

also had a ski in that lost power some days and others was fine for a while. turned out the black ground wire on the inside of the stator was corroded. electrical stuff is just silly sometimes. you need to track down where you lose power. checked all this crap in like 5 minutes after removing and opening the ebox with just a test light.:thinkerg:
