Well I am getting ready for summer and today I took my ride plate off because I bought a diff one.



Anyways as I was putting the new one on, the back bolt on left side I broke it off in the hull. I tried for about 2 hours with a drill to get it out but had no luck.

What are my options now?



Is it alright to run the boat without that bolt holding the plate on?

You can use an easy out.

All you do is drill a hole (the size wil be given on the easy out) then screw in this thing that looks like a drywall screw with very coarse threads.

They run opposite of the bolt threads, so the tighter you turn, the better the grip.

yea there is no chance now i drilled all the way down to the treads in the hull and I am pretty sure I F'ed the threads in the hull up also

you can tap the hole and use a larger bolt

I thought there were like bolts that were casted in the hull when it was poured?

3 bolts are good enough
or, drill and tap the brass insert for a larger bolt after you drill out the old one.

also, put some silicone at the 4 bolt locations for extra protection.

oh and its a square nose with 6 bolts so im guessing that it means im even more ok with not all the bolts?

5 Bolts is more than enough. It will be fine for now.

Don't use spray silicone, use real RTV silicone. I even put up in the holes then put my bolt in. It helps to prevent water from getting up in those bolt holes and soaking the foam in the rear of the ski.
