Unsportmanlike conduct are very often penalized in most major sports. So the same should be done for ours. A suspension or disqualification should be put in place (IMO)

:

As long as all other riders who yelled at course mashalls/Pat Mell, cursed and slammed helmets down, broke trophies, ect ect get the same penalty.
To single Jason out isnt fair. Nationals is a huge event, and tempers were going off regularly. If the APBA penalizes Jason they better penalize ALL the others.

I don't think anyone is saying that Jason isn't a great rider, or a guy who's willing to help others, but if you were there (and please refrain from guessing those who weren't) here are some facts:

1) Jason has an awesome run, but so did Jeremy and Eric. (FACT)

2) Jason wasn't at his best - he had a better run last year when he gave Eric something to be seriously worried about. (IMHO - judge for yourself when you see the vid)

3) Eric's run was flawed, but far outstripped the other two on sheer amplitude and difficulty (backflip - who can compete but for a few individuals?) (FACT)

4) Both Jeremy and Jason were much more enjoyable to watch - I'm sorry but Eric is getting dull, especially at the Nationals level when he doesn't show off his A-game. (IMHO, but crowd reaction suggested that others agreed)

5) Jason screwed his own run by pulling a sub after the end of his run and swamping his motor - screwing his chances at the double up. (FACT)

6) The organizers threw him a bone by allowing him to go back out for the double up. (FACT)

7) Both before, during and after the competition Jason showed very poor judgement and sportsmanship. (FACT)

Those are (mostly) facts, draw your own conclusions.

Once your over like 13 or so trophys should not mean much. Maybe they all just do it later anyways and we just don't know it. I guess I would'nt do it in front of kids though:rolleyes:

i want to be able to bore my grandchildren with my stories
the trophyies will help as well to add credence

Sounds like a few people have personal problems with Jason and want to use this to bash on him. I guess nobody else has flaws.

As an adult, your expected to show professionalism. Being a sore loser and displaying a piss poor attitude about it is unsportsmanlike and should be looked down upon.

Think about it. Im a physical education teacher. Would it be ok if I threw a temper tantrum in front of my third grade students? Absolutely not, and I would probably be suspended or even possibly lose my job for doing something like that.

Think before you act, otherwise deal with the consequences!!!!!!

My 2 cents-let the Gil slamming begin---

FACT-I was NOT there, so I am going by what I am reading here-

I've tried real dam hard to get to the pro ranks in mx and hopin to get there
in freestyle ski someday-it's my dream-leave me alone.

I agree w/just about every single post in this thread-BUT-until you have
'been there and done that' we should all keep our comments/posts, to ourselves!!! Things happen-unless you have been in that situation-u can't
begin to feel his pain-it came out-good?-no-should we crucify him here? NO!
These guys have to have TONS of emotion to be able to do what they do!!!

Peace out
ps

CONGRATS pardaddy-U CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mine is bigger than yours
I say pull all their cards and fine all of them being bad sports if the racers were doing it too.

It does not matter that someone has a flawless run for scoring. If I brought my couch out and did a head stand for 2 min and the other 2 guys did 2 tricks to my 2 min run I could get bet. It has to do with the ablity to pull and land big sh*t like back flips I bet Eric pulled more than one and Jason pulled ZERO. Dont get me wrongI am not bashing him I am just reminding how teh event is scroed.

Who were the judges any way no one has said.

He should channel that anger in to winning the next competition, grown men shouldn't act that way period especially when in the company of racers/riders that he has influence over...

you ever see snowboarders after a good run that doesnt score well? They are stoked to be riding, supporting sponsors, hanging with like minded individuals that push each other and are there to let it hang out, even if the scores dont reflect their run. Try playing golf where the score is the only thing that matters- sports are a microcosm of life- if you cant deal with the misshaps of sports how can you deal with life?

Maybe the trophy just wouldnt fit in the celica?

Jason had a beef with nashville.....he did what he did and left it in nashville. Whatever.

Maybe you guys havent heard of "Trophy Chunkin" but it is done in a few sports other then ours. Most usually make a game out of it and see who can throw the furthest but what ever.

I was there but didn't see any of it. What I do know is that most of us here know each other and everyone tends to let personal relationships affect the way they view things. It's hard not to. The bottom line is the scores are in and nothing is going to change it. I'm glad that all 3 of those guys are there supporting the sport and hope they continue to do so in the future. Lets move on...

long story short-due to my temper-instead of trying harder for the 1st place season trophy this year-I sold my bike and quit riding/racing altogether-how would it be if Stoyer went home and sold his ski's and quit the sport-would that be good for our sport?

How many of you people have been on your best behavior even on your worst day???????? I dont know the guy but dont go off saying that he should be a representative for the sport and he can never let his true emotions show because of the fans. What you do in the moment cant be taken back. Just live with it.
