This has been bugging me for a while...

Why do people buy 2 single F/A's for dual carb then cut them all up just to make em fit???? Why not just use the stock dual 44 intake, or modify the 38's to fit???? I think the stock 44 F/A works great... I don't have any problems w/ it at all... THe singles are also in the way of the head and cooling water routing sometimes... Is there an advantage or is this just one of those thiongs that can't be explained????

:cool2: :cool2: :cool2: :cool2:

hey Nick, you want to sell your 2 OEM single F/A's?

IF the OEM dual breather will work, then use it........

I don't have singles... I have the dual. It works great... I was just wondering why people choose that option over duals....

Some aftermarket manifolds have different spacing for the two carbs. If it's anything but OEM spacing, using the OEM dual FA is out.
Also, using carbs other than 44's may rule it out, too.

Another thing: You have a slim chance of getting to the adjusters without taking the singles off. Duals? Slimmer.

Nick, I thought you had 2 singles on there, one facing forward, one rear.... That may be Pancakes I am thinking about.

I had borrowed those from RMBfreride (Niel) till I could locate my own...

But to tell you the truth about my setup...I wasn't aware of a stocker 44 dual, and the singles just sorta fell into my lap.
No technical reasons for me then.

I use the stock duel arrestor off my 38's on my 44's riva intake. I had to make a new base plate and moved the arrestor closer to the hull on the exhaust tube side so it would clear the head without cutting the arrestor.

I am all about the dual 44's OEM arrestor.
The adjustment screws are CAKE to get to with a screwdriver.

I'm with you on this one Nick.

I beleve the reasoning for using two singles is so you can place the open air part over the head toward the center of the ski (Less chance of water getting in. Compared to a Dual setup where the intake is in the front of the motor.

I would argue that the dual has better positioning for airflow... it's more forward away from the coupler, bilges, drains where water is going to. Also it's faced inward and doesn't require modifications to use. The intake hole is actually almost directly in the center if the ski...

It's almost like the Yamaha engineers thought about what water would do once it got inside the hull.... :147:
