300/440/550 stiff pole???

I've seen a couple guys with SJs that have tightened their handle pole so it is very rigid and requires force to move up and or down. This seems like a good idea as I would guess it would reduce fatigue and give more control when airborne. So my question is, has anyone done this with a stock kaw 650sx pole? If so how? I’m afraid if I just crank on the thru bolt it’ll bust the mount of pole long before I get it tight enough to stiffen the pole movement.

You may be more prone to breaking it when its snugged down. If you get tossed into/onto it realy hard and its cranked down you could crack it at the pivot point. I have no experience on the subject just my opinion.

just curious, was that with or without a limiting rope?

That was with no rope. But it smashed it when I hit the water upside down and the pole was to tight to move so it snapped out of its socket.

I guess if I would not have tightened it it may have cracked my hood.

I think someone did crack there hood in the cherry buster actually.

Oh yea. I forgot!

Did it crack because the pole slammed in to it?

Or did it crack because the hood slammed in to the hull?

Tight is the way to go, not sure about KAWI stocker poles though cuz I believe they are all glass at bottom right?
mine is glass, but I can't ride with a pole that is too tight b/c I am used to using the pole for balance. Maybe with some time practicing on sj's I can learn, but I wanna get all I can out of this 550 first.
