Super Jet Stator causes backfire?

I recently started having backfires. Ski hasn't been all that great running this season but it has run consistently until recently. Had a bad set of cases that put some metal shavings in the flywheel area but very minor. Fixed that...replaced

Don't have a spare stator but it tests ok ohm and ac voltage however it only has 336 ohms on the brown and white wire to ground. It is a 62t stator and it was paired all summer with a 61x cdi. Problems of backfire just started. I thought the 62t stator was supposed to be 497-600 ohms.

Would my ski run with a 61x stator and 62t flywheel? Is it possible? Or is my stator shot because of the stator charge coil ohm readings...

None of the experts have answered, so I will. The charge coil (brown wire) obviously has been compromised, several layers will punch through sometimes. It may not work with an aftermarket enhancer but should be ok with stock cdi. The backfiring is likely caused by a sheared flywheel key or a bad pulser coil or maybe the stator has come loose. Suggest pulling your flywheel and checking for issues. Always use a threadlocking agent such as Loctite for the retaining screws. Some claim that the 61X cdi cannot handle the higher power of the 62T charge coil. I do not subscribe to the "some" crowd in this case. You cannot mix stators and flywheels between 61X and 62T, the latter has a larger diameter. You can change your engine to 61X however, without ill effect.

I have never had an issue with a 61x cdi on a 62t stator, These things are bullet proof. I would be looking for pysical damage to the winding as per suggested above.
You can take the stator out and get it tested , they call it putting a mega through it . They put a load through the windings and check the insulation. Just doing a resitance test does not always show the issue
