300/440/550 square nose questions

Could someone please post pics of their square nose in the water from both sides. I need to determine how much of a lean to the right do these things really have. I think mine is way too extreme.

Next thing is I hate the way the steering feels. I don't know if it is because the 650 has UMI, or if it is just changing from the kawi to the sj, but it seems like you have to twist the bars a mile . I feel like my arms are not long enough...like one has has to reach the nose, while the other is against my side.

So what do I need to do to shorten the turning radius of the bars? Or how ever you say it???

I want a small motion to equal a turn not a 4 mile reach!

oh yeah, and how much is this going to cost me? I haven't got an hour on this ski and it is already going through my pockets. :banghead:

do you have a rideplate on?

on my old 550 i had a really agressive rideplate and compared to my friends rideplate mine took alot more bar to turn it. when i was first learning i thought the cable was broke cause it seemed like it didn't want to steer at all.

if the ball on the turnplate is in the outermost hole (if there is more than one), you can modify the steering nozzle by drilling a hole inward from the position of the existing ball and placing the ball in the new hole. youll have to grind the front left and right part of the nozzle to allow proper clearance so the cable stops on the stop and not on the nozzle hitting the pump.

Charlie is referring to the turnplate that the handlebars attach to. Take the pole pad off and make sure the steering ball is in the outermost hole. UMI bars are wider than stock, so they make your arms move further too.

Thanks for the info! :hail: Maybe shorter bars too???? The steering is stock and the reach is WAY different than on my Kawi650sx ( w/UMI)

Anyone have a photo they can post showing a square on the right side sitting in calm water?

Oh my I am shocked by such innuendo.

Trust me, I don't have anything that you would want. Hey Moon, be a team player and post some pics for the Doc so he will help me out. :tomato:

I don't have any pics, but my squarenose leans to the right too. The water comes just above the bond line on the right while the left bond line is a couple inches above the water. I have a Coffman exhaust which is a little lighter than stock. If I take my battery out it sits perfectly level.

Ok well maybe then mine is not so bad. Really bugs me right now, but I guess I will get use to it.

Thanks!!!
