Spring of 2022 - Whatcha Gonna Do?

Well folks, we're only just over 6 weeks away from the official first day of spring! :D What's on everybody's mind for projects and round-to-its? Anything, be it a ski project, an ATV, new ideas to try for camping, restoring an old muscle car or pickup, whatchy'all aiming for this year?? I'll start... I'm going to finish restoring my hull and get out on the water...a lot! ...finally after a year of being in drydock, and, I plan on investing much more time in the woods this year starting right around late April to early May pending weather conditions :)

new ideas to try for camping

So, I’ve been planning this for a few years, and hope this year it happens (depends on at least one other participant)… The great lakes around Michigan have a slew of islands, many being either state land or otherwise uninhabited. I bought a couple of sit-downs to make getting to them fast, though light on supplies. I’m going to camp on some, make day trips to others, and TBD from there. Take a look at the islands around Beaver Island for an example. I’ve been to a few before, but not on waverunners. Camping, fishing, exploring… that’s the plan. Mostly Lake Michigan and Superior. Stannard Rock is on the list, but I’m starting closer to shore.

Ps: should this sound interesting to anyone reading it, please let me know. There’s some amount of safety in numbers.

I think I am going to take a mini-retirement from March thru June and do whatever the heck I want! Probably work on remodeling my house, playing some golf, whatever else comes my way.

Going to get back out on my dirt bike after 7yrs off. Also plan to widen tray and install foot holds on this beautiful wamilton hull, it’s getting a Paul Lehrer ported 760 and a 148 torrent pump! Ordered a rickter xfr last fall so who know when that will arrive

I have pics in a album somewhere of that exact hull barrel rolling… kicking myself for passing up on that beauty!!!

I normally have about 7+ projects at once on top of everyone else’s junk I can’t so no to wrenching on during the summer.

1. Repair hull and swap comp 900 back to 701 to sell .
2. Swap Dasa 950 8mill out with comp 900 in Rickter.
3. Get my super jet ready for some nautiwater racing in KS and TX.
4. Rebuilt engine in new to me bobcat with low compression on one cylinder .

Planning to make it to all KS races , summer nationals , and brave the wave .

A friend of mine just bought the same Bobcat. We're working on getting it running too lol, well...he is lol. I've been doing what I can when I can but time is limited for me right now. His is a 1980 310 and uses points for the ignition system. I talked him into buying an electronic replacement module for the points, just after he gets it he found corrosion in a bunch of connections, cleaned them all and now has spark. Great time to use that replacement module now that he knows it has fire :) They modules are just an aftermarket thing for something like $30

Mines a 4cyl kubota .

I got another. Bought a 454 big block this year that my dad and I are gonna try to stuff in to his boat that currently has a 350 small block. Everything I've read says it'll work and fit. We are just worried the smaller out drive won't handle it. Should be a screamer if it works out. 21 ft boat.. It already runs 51 mph, hoping for the 60s

I have 2 major couch projects I am working on

2004 Kawi STX-15f that I am swapping a RXT-X motor/pump into
2007 Kawi Ultra LX that is getting an old Riva Racing Vortech V5 and a built motor, custom ecu, and setup for flex fuel. ~400-450hp

My main goal for the spring-fall is to actually get out and ride/explore. It has been way too long since I had a functional ski and I am really looking forward to using these again.
