Super Jet Speedwerx pipe vs b pipe

i can! better! but you need to do a slight repitch on the impeller. if you're running a 13/19 go to an 11/18. the intial hit is moved up a few hundred rpm's, but once you get a different prop the ski feels way better. just never runs out of steam.

Are there any downsides to these pipes then? Are they a pain to keep tuned? I think I read that they take o-rings, do those blow a lot?

With any drypipe you are going to have more maintenance issues. Orings and Couplers blow. With the speedwerx you need to spend alot of time gettign the lord mounts lined up correctly to take the load off the coupler.

The pipe itself makes good power. But I would not run it on a ported motor with stock carbs and MSD Enhancer.

I loved mine on an otherwise stock motor. It made awesome power in the mid to top, but pulled pretty strong on the bottom, too. It kept blowing o-rings, though. A lot of those pipes came misaligned from the factory. You had to align it yourself and possibly cut the mounting bracket and/or stinger end and reweld. I didn't feel like doing all that, so I went to a B-pipe.

If I were going to build up a SJ just for ripping up the lake. I would build a full limited using a Speedwerx pipe. Darren Hedlund knows how to build pipes!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had one on a old limited race ski and loved it! That boat had great power all the way through. I spent a lot of time making sure things were lined up and never had any trouble.

in my sj i have the jetmaniac/blue motor and i had the b pipe on it and when i changed to the speedwerx i laughed because everyone raves the b pipe but if you really want the power you have to get a dry pipe.. i haven't blown any o rings or any of that maybe mine is lined up right.

I regret selling mine. I would have rather just left it on hanging on the wall.

Once I slotted all the mounting holes and lined it up nicely I never had coupler issues again. But it did clog a lot and I hate running strainers.

Once I switched to a B I never looked back though....the B hits where I want it. The SW had at least 500 more R's it seemed. It just ripped and kept going!

I could never get it to "POP" even with different props.

Hmmm... Now I'm really torn. Everyone seems to like the speedwerx but that "POP" off the bottom is what I'm really looking for out of my engine.

Imho, you'll be happier with the b-pipe in the long run.
That Speedwerx pipe was super easy to remove/install, though. (provided you cut the hood lip a bit)

How can a dry pipe that has 3/8 inch inlet and outlet clog easier than a b-pipe that has the same size inlet and outlet plus the B has tiny orifices in the head pipe?
