i know you can have your impeller machined ,but its kind of bunk to have to do this on two solas products that you think would be compatible. any pics ??

So im guessing no one else has tested this prop yet? I thought for sure since alot of other riders have purchased this pump there would be some feed back on this issue? I will give my results asap!

I've installed 3. Solas yq-cd. Impellers into the solas pump now , they all have this 5~6mm gap.
I haven't been in the water yet sadly, and i haven't heard back about the others yet.

They wont perform well with that kind of a setup.

Here is a pic of a 12/18 Hooker imp. Notice the 7mm setback, it comes that way. I don't think your YQ-CD-12/18 has any set back.

I'm sayin tho! This is bull shyt! How do you do that with all the equipment and r&d in the world, lame!

The problem that I had with the Solas 12-18 was too much load for my high port 701, way too much load. I flattened it out and it is fine now. A low port 771 would be minimum for this impeller in stock form. As far as the gap, its far down on the list of "things to worry about". My experimentation never revealed enough difference to notice while riding. My flattened Solas, with its larger than stock gap, primes just like 9-15 Hookers that are nearly rubbing the stator. There may be some merit with big engines in the surf but not with small stuff in clear water.
