so will a 46 mikuni be much better than a single 44?

I would be interested to know as well...

I was thinking it might not be a bad idea for a 46 or 48 rather than going duals...

Chuckie (TeamScream) has stated that the SBN 46 is a great out-of-the-box carb.

Me, I am currently putting a motor together with a single 48 Riva on X cases, stock manifold.

Myself, SFLSurfrider and Waterfreak all run single 48 mikuni's in our skis.

I noticed a big difference coming from a single 44, and with the simplicity of the setup, coupled with the small gains you get from dual 38's/44's, I will stick with the 48's on my skis.

I just picked up a brand new 46 on ebay for $70 I need to hog out the holes so I can make it fit. Does any one know what the jetting differences are between a 46 and a 44??? Bigger? Smaller?

I received my carb today. Didn't have the tuning guide with it. I will have to email him and see if he can send it electronically. Really good shape.

Nice.....thanks Matt.....question I have is since they are wetjet 46mm, would it be feasible to do a dual setup with them (tolerance and spec wise)?

I was under the impression the bolt spacing is different from other Mikuni SBN's.

I would make sure that the popoff is identical between the two.

just pulled it appart to check the jetting

150 high
102.5 low?!
1.5n&s and a black spring

I know the 46 is supposed to pull better on the low (per group k), but a 102.5?

This carb was brand new there was still white grease around the shaft on the inside and no gas in the resevoir. There is a 3rd hole in the carb that you can screw a low jet into next to the regular low jet.

Well guys I just upgraded my single 44 mikuni to a 46 black jack I bought from nikad. It seemed to improve for the moment I rode the ski. The boys just got through rejetting it and tweaking it for the second time. My husband took it for a test run and my driveshaft stripped out. :banghead: :banghead:

Once I replace the driveshaft I will let you know.

thats correct. the spacing is slightly wider between the bolt holes at the base of the carb to accomadate a different manifold. You can egg them out probably roughly 1/8" or 3/16" each in order for them to match up to the 44mm mikuni manifolds.

I picked up one of the 46ers on ebay as well. Same story, appears to be brand new, havent pulled it apart to check the jetting yet.

will a straight aftermarket mikuni have the right bolt spacing? I know the wetjet spacing is wider but I thought the regular aftermarket carb would have the same spacing as a 44. I guess I'll see, I just bought one.
