650/X-2 SN overheating?

Cant figure out whats going on with my friends SN 650 with a coffmans pipe. We took it out for the first time and he rode it for a good 15-30min before it started acting up. It would just keep dying on him, my guess is the head temp sensor was shutting him down because it was getting too hot. I dont see anything wrong, I took all the hoses off and they are all clear flowing. I noticed in the pump the hole is really small literally (__) that big like someone drilled a hole and elongated it im thinking it should be atleast double that size? The hole looks like it would be for a fuel hose not a cooling line...

the holes really arent very big as is, when the ski shuts down, is the head real hot? could have a bad temp switch. is there lost of water coming out the pisser and is there any steam coming out the pisser

whats the pisser do flow-wise when riding?

Is the ski tuned right? i.e. Sure it's not overheating from lean condition and squeeking a piston?

Have you tried backflushing? Might not be in the hoses but a fitting or internal. The pump hole should be the size of a pen or a little larger, say 3/8ths.

Pisser has somewhat of a weak stream compared to my 701, the headpipe was very hot, the pisser had some steam coming out of it after riding. I did a compression test and the front cylinder was 135 and the back was only 120...

compression is a bit on the low side, I would probobly richen the mixture up just a bit if you are going to run it the way it is, I would also sudgest taken the head off and taking a look around and replacing head gasket. I do that on every new motor I buy. take the water line off that come from you pump. blow in it through your motor and see how easy air moves through, should be pretty easy, if not you have a clog, ive had this same issue on a buddies ski at the end of last season.

i had a bad issue with over heating in the past, turned out to be a bad head gasket, a water port fried and compression was pushing water back reverse through the cooling system.
get a new gasket, and pull the head would be my $0.02

Can someone tell me if the hoses are piped correctly please...

pump to manifold
head to headpipe
headpipe to pisser
headpipe to stinger (this looked like the one causing lots of heat)

Is there a better way to route these cooling lines to cool her down?

best bet is head to bottom fitting of head pipe, top of head pipe to singer with a "T" to a pisser"

when running are you getting good flow out the pisser?

No its kinda weak.

dont remember did you say it was set up for dual cooling, or one cooling line?

I dont think so I dont understand it there's 3 hoses going into the top of the headpipe, there isnt one on the bottom. Im guessing the extra one is because they didnt use a T?

On my ski my B-pipe doesnt have so many cooling lines so im confused mine is pump to manifold bottom of headpipe to my head and top of headpipe with a T to the stinger/pisser. There is no bottom fitting on the coffman and theres an extra fitting on top...

Yeah its getting really hot, heres couple pics... should the head go to the back of headpipe instead of front-side of headpipe?

Did u blow out all hoses or the hose that goes from pump area to the inside of hull or try back flushing from pisser
