650/X-2 SN overheating?

So what was the problem?

Ended up being the head gasket, easy fix =) Took it out on Sunday with a new gasket and ran allday no problems!

Cant figure out whats going on with my friends SN 650 with a coffmans pipe. We took it out for the first time and he rode it for a good 15-30min before it started acting up. It would just keep dying on him, my guess is the head temp sensor was shutting him down because it was getting too hot. I dont see anything wrong, I took all the hoses off and they are all clear flowing. I noticed in the pump the hole is really small literally (__) that big like someone drilled a hole and elongated it im thinking it should be atleast double that size? The hole looks like it would be for a fuel hose not a cooling line...

i have a 90 sn 650 with a coffmans, bought it in the winter first ride this season i blew both pipe couplers and melted anything else in contact with it, i replaced the cooling lines and changed my head gasket, and after that it runs great, i took a temp reading with the ol gasket in it right after id melted my 3rd coupler and temperature were over 250 F, pretty dam hot, i dont have a sensor but luckily nothing melted down, yet. good luck
