Small fire extinguishers

none of those are technically legal. Strictly you need a B-1 coast guard rating
(which is basically a size spec, not related to the "ABC" type)
Probably better than nothing in terms of getting ticketed though.

If it doesnt say "USCG Approved" it is not legal
Those cheesy chinese fire extinguishers arent approved
But you may be able to talk your way out of a ticket if you have one on board and play stupid :veryhappy:

what dennis kirk has there is the kiddie pwc model. I Don't know why it says jetlyne but its got kiddies part number. You can sometimes find those at walmart.

ya they are heavy and dont work when ya actually need one, trust me.

The sole function of the device is to prevent tickets. All thats needed to "work" is the proper label and the test butting needs to function.

I feel brutal for the guys who have to have a fire extinguisher. Up here if we are wearing an approved jacket we don't need to carry one. That should be the rule.

If its on fire ABANDON SHIP!

I took mine out, but i saw one last night for 17.00 out the door at lowes. USCG approved b:c type for marine. I won't be putting on in until daytona. I have a new spot to ride that would be very unlikely to see the coast guard, beach cart mandatory.

The rangers here say that you have to have the extinguisher so you can help others, if your pwc is on fire you should ABANDON SHIP!

This pisses me off because I am not going anywhere near a boat fire on my standup, they should abandon ship too.

I've seen some pics of some chrome mini extinguishers (about the length of your battery tray) but I have no idea where to find them.

With an aftermarket hood you dont have many choices on where to put them. I really dont want mine under the hood anywhere for fear it will discharge and make a mess out of everything, so I opt. to break the law and go with out. For Daytona I simply strap one to the top of the batterey then remove it once inspected.

I was worried about the same thing. I have the stock one in mine. It didn't work any more. I emptied the powder out, and set the dial to 'charged'. They check for them around here, and I couldn't find one small enough to fit in the engine compartment. I just put this one under the tank strap. If they try to test it I may get a ticket, but I'll just play dumb.
