I think they are 95% the same, and you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you compared the same pitch. Just my .02.

If you are slipping, try a steeper pitch.

You cannot compare the pitches of the two and expect them to be the same.......... There is some differences

I have run both.......... with the Concorde, there is a bit of Lag right off the bottom, with the skat it hits instantly, Is this a bad thing, I dont think so, there are plenty of skis with the SOLAS that hits well, you just have to compensate for it......... I prefer the Skat.........

SJBrit rode my ski after we talked about it, he said (In his British Accent!!!), "Wow, I really do feel the difference"...

I would not change props if you already have the SOLAS and it works....

I agree, I just put on a skat swirl 12/17 and I noticed it hits more instantly than my Concord. If you look at them side by side, the Skat impeller blades are a little longer and more pointier and rounded, and they over lap each other more, hence maybe the "instant" hook up? Whereas the Solas does give you that little bit of "slip clutch lag" feel the hooks and goes. I havent even had my Skat cutback yet and i like it better..

Those swirl's just hook up super good, I copied Leggdragger and had one made for my X2 and it rocks! I won't go back to a slimline or standard again.

At the moment I have a 13/16 3mm cutback concord on my superjet and I ordered a 13/15 3mm cutback swirl. I'll let you know the results.

Is it the blade design?

or the different finish, polished VS sanded that makes the difference in that initial bit of hook up?

Ive got to rework my solas, an I though of finishing it like a skat.

Crikey, did I say that?!! Yes, I noticed the a difference, but I really want to try your ski again BK. I just got my prop back from Impros who repaired some major rock damage. Before that I had some minor dings which I couldn't be bothered with getting fixed. However, now that I have it back like new, I notice much less slip. I think the dings were causing some issues. I'm also way better dialed in on the carbs these days. So, I really want to run that head to head again since to see if I still notice a difference with mine running so well. Let's play props at Smith Lake in a couple of weeks. We have almost exactly the same ski setup, so we ought to be able to add some good feedback to this debate.

Solas 13/17 concord vs. Skat 12/17 Freeride Swirl. Very close in design. Skat-Trak is hands down better quality & finish. You don't know what performance you will get when you get a Solas. You could be lucky and get a good one or get a bad one and lose a lot of performance. That's why we always had to true them all the time. But when we would "True" Solas 13/17 it will out perform a Skat 12/17 Freeride Swirl.

all of the impellers from IMPROS with the cutback and repitch are trued by them correct?

Sorry Idok!! Too much info sometimes!! I had my caffeine today! :Banane01:

I'm sure Impros trues his impellers. It would be like running an oval tire on a car if you didn't true it. I don't go by the pitch I go by the blade overlap distance and other measurements like the blade to base length. This practice was shown to me by Scott @ SRE and it works. Sometime blades would be 3-5mm off. So you think you are putting a 13/17 in your ski but really it's a 14-19 or whatever. And that's just one of the blades you have 2 more. That throws the whole prop off balance. "Oval tire theory"

Have you guys notice the drill marks on the back a Solas to balance the impeller? Why do you think that is??? MMMmmm? Skat's don't have them and don't need them.

pffft my stock aluminum prop hits better then those scats...

From what I've researched, skat seems to hook better, and a bonus, its made in the US

Speak up ,don't kiss azz
I have a Skat swirl on my SJ an LegdragPete has a Concord on his SJ and I've rode both with the same mods .B-pipes ,msd's ,top loaders and D cut plates .

The Skat outperforms the Solas on every level and is a better quality made prop .
the blades are a true round swirl shape where the concords are more oval .

I did buy Pete's Concord anyways for a backup because it was such a good price .

I wouldnt buy any other prop new than a Skat from now on .
I even put one in my Blaster and it kicks azz in that too.
F- Solas, cheap made in taiwan crap
