if you land your hull on its side and you don't have an oem seal it will leak water in. The hood lifts off the seal enough to let quite a bit of water in. The oem gasket has a lip to help prevent water from going straight in.

yeah, but I am wondering that if I had had a OEM Hood Seal on my ski at Lanier 2 years ago, when I pancaked off a cruiser wake, could it have helped hold my hood in place, which in turn may have given the side of my hull some more support (right where the water strainer is located), I have been patching cracks for 2 days now..................

The JSS gasked does not hold the hood in place like the stocker will......... my 24/7 hood hooks are all wallered out from the hood shifting from side to side!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trust Me, it not worth it, and it lets in a ton of water............

Thanks for all the info guys ,I still don't know what I'm gonna do but I have a few choices it seems .
I really don't wanna spend $100 on a new stocker cause I really dont do any tricks (all I do is wave jumping ).
I think I'll try the HT kit and see how that works ,if it sucks then I'll get the stocker ,I hate ordering from Riva I never got anything on time or in stock that I paid for .:headbang:

I use neoprene/EPDM/ SBR sponge rubber. And it works great. You can get it out of www.mcmastercarr.com. I believe it may be the same material JSS has switched to. It is closed cell and has 25% deflection at a density of 7-9 lbs/cu. ft.it is also weather and abrasion and chemical resistant. It has an adhesive back but I still used dap contact cement. Cost is 8.00 bucks for 25 ft.

I had a JSS seal on for the past two years and it worked great, the hood had taken a lot of hard blows off barge wakes up in the Mississippi and had never failed. Of course I also run hood straps which you should if you are going to go big.

I've got an oem seal and I've taken side hits that knocked it out of the groove so bad I needed to reglue it.

mossman, used some weatherstripper that he bought at the hardware store for $6. He swears by it, but . . . he swears by a lot of stuff that you wouldn't find on my ski. (diamond-plate aluminum reenforcement for one thing)

been using it for over two years... it holds up vewry well... I ripped a small piece before and just superglued it back together... I recomend using 3M black gasket sealer to sealthe ends.

it comes w/ 3M double stick tape... that **** don't come off like DAP or some pressure sensitive glue...

I'll get you a part number if you want... I was thinking of buying a box and selling it by the foot :27: :27: :27:

i got this stuff from slutty about a year ago...injected it with silicone and have seen NOTHING better..

on a square at least..




it wont work on a round (at least after injected), but I can clamp my hood down for a week at a time and it will pop right back into place with not so much as even a groove in it.....

I think you will be happy with JSS hood seal. As usual I ordered some carb parts and other misc, items from John and he threw in some free items we had discussed. I have had nothing but good experiences from JSS.:arms: :arms:

I use the new jss seal on my race ski and have good results with it.
I also have one on a freeride ski If everything is alined perfectly it works.
On my new freeride ski i have gone with oem.
John has always done right by me.

I got a hydro turf one from ebay for $20.00 shipped .
I'll try that and then probably get an OEM or more hydro turf ones:headbang:

stopped by to see john at JSS today. man his shop looks like an O.R. he does some very good electrical work, and he is always looking at some way of inproving a product. very impressed
