So i started just a few days ago and i so far in process of defoaming and cut down the ribs in the hull. I have never build a ski up so all your input and suggestions are more than welcome.
Things i want to do
-reinforce (front, back and the tray).....thinking of no foam, just reall strong reinforcement
-one way into the side of pump
-possible dual cooling... dont know all the pros and cons
-really want to cut the hull by like 2in but not sure how it will perform
-exhaust mod.... just front, rear or dual

let me know what u guys think and if you have any idea or tips.

foam helps with the strength on the sides and under tray not just for flotation ......Superjett said he knows of a full freestyle ski with no foam sitting at the bottom of a lake. either way good luck with your project

I know ,,,,, we have already retrieved one ski off the bottom of a lake.
I wish I knew where it was located

lol...yup yup.....i'm not to proud to winch up a barnacle infested ski.....matter of fact that what i'm currently riding......well... barnacles were removed when i cut it apart.....sucker was ugly!!!!

wow... i am trying to figure out how to reinforce and i am having alot of trouble finding specific info. I gona try to take it step by step
-what do i need to fill in the bondline? (i cant find the name of the product and where to buy it)
-and after i do fill it in do i just sand it down to make it a smooth and even surface between the top and bottom deck and the bondline so then i can lay the glass or whatever else?

get your materials from www.uscomposites.com

I'm not sure what they use to fill the bond line, but they just glass over it. There's a write up in the tech faqs section. Do a search. I know I have seen all of it here.

Can't drain plugs be added with foam? The water will find it's way to the bottom of the ski and foam isn't that absorbant. Put some kind of channel in the foam in the bottom and then instal the drain plug (Like, Get a long screw driver bit and run it though the plug hole after you foam). Water can run to the bottom and then out the plugs at the end of the day.

I haven't tried this but I don't understand why it wouldn't work.

you can fill the bond line with 2 part foam just like what you put in the gunwhales. make sure you use epoxy resin with your fiberglass reinforcing.

should i use the medium 3:1 ratio for the epoxy resin?

and i want to use fiberglass to reinforce cause carbon and kevlar seems expensive. (might use it for finishing layer)
Anyway what would u recomend the s glass or the e glass and what OZ amount for either s or e glass.

Whooo Finaly starting to get a hang of this reinforcement deal....

I used 12 oz Biaxl cloth for reenforcing the sides of my hull ... I filled the gap with 2 part 2lb foam and sanded smooth.

I have used medium and light epoxy resin . both worked no prob.

Like Vumad said most of this info is in the FAQ section.

Good luck

Filled in the bond line .... and some more pics of the build. I am just at the first steps of the build so not that much progress done. I used epoxy resin with the microballons and it works really well. Kinda hard to balance the ski so the mixture doesnt leak all over the place but i got it to work. The sides should be all dried up by tomorrow so i will move to the nose next. I got the 18oz biaxial and 5.7oz carbon kavlar hybrid (orange/black) the carbon/kevlar looks really cool.... i will post some pics later.
