Since we're sharing our surfstyle pics...

Gun,Ive seen some pretty sick re-intries pics of you pullin them big also.Im also working on bringin them in slightly nose down,Its just mentally hard for me to turn the ski complety sideways to a breaking lip and lean down on the nose.It just feels like yer gonna get crushed, but when I land them right on the white water, its just like a pillow.

You want to be aproaching the wave at a 45 degree angle and hit the lip right as it gets hollow, or at least as its starting to break. Your kind of bouncing off the wall of the wave to get popped back towards the beach. If you were totally parallel with the wave you don't get that pop. Kind of like hitting a baseball on a T, and hitting one thats getting pitched to you if that makes sense.

My front foot is in a strap but you don't need them for reentries. Timing is everything. The waves in that video were walled out. Notice the second my ski leaves the water the wave breaks undernieth it. Wave knowledge is everything. Watch the waves :)

it's interesting how you crouch down/compress right before you leave.. looks almost like an ollie..

totally...i know when i am trying them in the real small rollers that I will approch from about 45 degrees.....

then crouch down, butt to heels........then as soon as make contact with the whitewater full throttle, pop, draw up heels and pivot hips to pull myself perp to the whitewash......

can also do it approaching the wave at a driect 90 degree angle, but the 45 works best...... (for me at least..)

keep in mind, not talking big surf here...just the day to day knee to chest we are stuck with most of the time....

my avatar is when I first started landing them in the pillow.........i like to think my form is a little better now as it does feel MUCH smoother from start to finish...(not to mention I can now table them out)

yeah... I started to do them like a stab to... At first it's scary, cause you think your gonna nose in, but you get over that... This style allows you to motor throgh the wave w/o slowing down... My goal is to enter back into the wave nose down and on the gas w/ no hesitation. Of course it's rare that you get one you really feel good about...

my avatar is a nose stab type of re entry

im going to try that this weekend......been trying to figure out how to get the nose down...

Damn, East Coasters---I'd kill for knee to chest about now. We haven't had crap all year...

Thanks,What makes it less sketchy is landing at the same angle you hit it especially if your clearing a section and landing back in the wave. Its easy to get used to, Also the more mush a wave has the lower you need to hit the shoulder.

a closed out wave is when the wave breaks all at once. or too fast to be able to ride it. you can rent surf vids or buy freeloaders and get a headstart on your surf knowledge. it will really help with your understanding of the surf...
