Someone once tried sending me jets in a paper envelope. It ripped & no jets showed.:dead1:
I just recenting sent a small roller out and doubled-up on paper envelopes and it got there.:smokin:
USPS rate have gotten high on big & heavy items. I like UPS.:woot:

I find that Priority is usually within a dollar or two of parcel, unless you're shipping something heavy. In which case Fedex is the way to go.
So usually it doesn't pay to send something Parcel, especially if you can fit whatever you're shipping into a flat rate box.

I set up an account with FedEx and get awesome rates..I can usually ship someone a regular size motor(say a Yamaha 701) for less than $50.

If I ship USPS, its typically Priority no matter what...unless the buyer just absolutely insists on the cheapest possible shipment method.

Whats the deal with shipping to Florida? I've not heard of any issues but I'm curious what your experiences are.

Thanks. :)

I have shipped to Florida without incidence, however it seems some people down there get sticky hands. I know a couple people who have had items stolen/ "lost" in transit when the items didn't have delivery confirmation or insurance. Maybe its gotten a bit better though.

the only envelopes I use are tyvek and tough as heck
tape small items to a manilla folder
put in tyvek envelope and ship for cheap!

Yea the reinforced envelopes arent bad at all...but they still have their limits.

If you ship in a envelope, completely cover it with clear shipping tape so it cant rip.

The Post Master basically sat down and explained how their sorting system works. My local post office wont even allow items to go out in envelopes if they feel heavy(the regular non reinforced envelopes anyways). He said their sorting machine is basically like a bit zit popper, and your package is the zit. He said all the other packages sort of squeeze on your envelope, and around corners the items inside get shot out.

same thing happened to me a while back when i tried to send shonuff a throttle adapter. i tried to skimp on the shipping.

it was only 1.15 in an envelope instead of 5.00 or more in a box.

needless to say it didn't make it to him, well the envelope did but the adapter didn't. So i wound up eating the 15 bucks i paid for it anyway. oh well at least my lesson was cheap. sounds like yours was a bit more expensive and the sellers didn't do the right thing and reimburse you for goods that didn't arrive.

Yea, the one guy told me to eat shyt...of course he was left negative feedback on the board and it haunted him pretty bad. That transaction made me mad, because I had been searching for these parts(clip-ons for a 05 R6) for quite some time..I really just needed the right side but found a good deal on both..so I bought both. Of course when package got here, only the left side was there. These things cost about $80 each brand new...big bummer.

The other transaction is one that just occurred. Haven't heard from seller yet and not mentioning any names until he has a chance to make it right. Its not a big deal..just sucks when I could have paid a bit more and got it directly from the dealership with no worries of it being lost.

here is how you can send in an envelope.

put packing tape on around the envelope. Go to the counter at the post office and tell them to manually sort it. Manual sorting doesn't cost extra.

The reason the envelopes are getting torn are because they go through a sorting machine that can't handle anything but paper.

if the buyer pays for shipping and the item is put in a flat rate box and never shows up he can say you never shipped it. You need proof of shipping and that means a trip to the post office, more wasted time. I sold a part and the guy said just put it in a flat rate box and charge me 5.00. I told him there was no insurance and if the part did not show up I wanted to be clear. He said if it didn't show up he would dispute it with e bay. I told him to pay me an extra 3.00 for me to go to the post office and he got upset. Gas is 3.00 a gallon my truck gets 15 miles per gallon in town and the part I sold was for 15.00. There is a point of being too cheap.

The trick is to go ahead and rip the envelope and not even put the parts in it. Then mail the envelope. You can sell the same part dozens of times.
Im selling jets 10 for a dollar, I got every size.
