I've sold many skis overseas.
Whatever you do, do NOT take even a PENNY of the payment via paypal. Not even a minimal deposit.
Depending on the country, I almost always use an exporter, known basically as a "travel agent for freight". Might cost you a couple dollars more, but the security of it, IMO, is well WELL worth it.
Also, take lot's of pictures of the transaction as it leaves your hands. The three most important things are, in this order, 1) Document everything, 2) Document everything, 3) Document absolutely everything.

Disclaimer:
(but, as usual, don't listen to anything I say about anything, because I am an idiot that doesn't know anything about anything and consider everything that I'm telling you to be a lie)

IMO, good advice. We call them customs agents.
I take it you're considering air freight?
Is it possible to sea ship?

Freightquote refused my shipment because the ski is used? WTF?

But Shipsmart quoted me $1000 for uninsured, seashiped, not sure when it would get there. I have to build the crate with special heat treated wood and then I have to take it somewhere and drop it off and the receiver will have to pick it up at a terminal.

And then FedEx Freight will get it there insured and picked up at my house in 7 days Air freight for 2400. If I want 2 days it is 3700.

That is all I know at the time. Does anyone know "thegoldenboy" He is a freight broker here on the X

How do you find an "exporter" ? My phone search was not successful.
PM me if you need some help.

(however, as usual, keep in mind that I am an idiot and I don't know anything about anything and you shouldn't trust anything I say.
I always need to remember to include my disclaimer)

Where are you shipping to?
Big differences between sea and air. I was quoted about a grand from Sergio for a top deck by air to New Zealand.

Get the buyer to organise insurance on his side. Depending upon where he comes from he may require an importers number and will probably need to contact a customs agent to handle any import documentation/ rules and regulations/GST, VAT etc. Save any headaches especially if he's never imported before.

PM me if you need some help.

I've been toying with the idea of rounding up a few dedicated guys to do a two week Bali trip. Can your hook up get pricing to send a superjet or several super jets to Bali, Indonesia? (BTW I'm thinking pack them in a container and send them by ship)

I don't think so.
My guy works out of Ft. Lauderdale, and his office is right there at the docks. You probably need to find someone out of L.A. I'm guessing.

you need to contact a "Freight Forwarder"... preferably someone that specializes in shipments (or ships regularly) to the country your are shipping to. They will have the best rates as they are trying to fill their containers. They will also be able to help with customs too.

rates will vary quite a bit on the "traffic lanes" (origin and destination).
obviously, if you can ship out of one of the main ports the rates should be cheaper. you will have to ship/deliver your ski(s) to the forwarder.
