I just fixed a 2000 RX Millenium edition for a client and that 951 stock is pretty quick and i had no problem doin nose stabs off my own wake with it. The GP1200 is a bigger motor and it's a lot easier to get bigger power out of a bigger motor with after market goodies. Depends on what ur looking for i guess. Both quick ski's

just saying from my experience and what ive seen, yamaha makes a more reliable motor. the 951 in the seadoo has THE stupidest designed air intake that ingests water with ease and their cases are a pain to get water out of. its all opinion, i mean how can you prove what company is better?

I wouldnt say that. Bombardier makes pretty reliable motors

In this case you are wrong, you are in fact so wrong it is not even funny. The 1200r will drop a power valve at the drop of a hat,you won't know its coming until its too late. The power valve system on these engines suck,it was revised 5 times and never recalled. The pins on the power valve back out and the valve drops, the brass collar on the valve mushrooms and allows the valve to drop, the power valve motors go out also.It was so bad that they discontinued the power valve engines and came out with the 1300 without power valves. The 1200 is a total bitch to work on,the cylinder are not borable ,the exhaust system is all over the place,it takes 5 hours to pull the carbs and put them back on etc etc etc yada yada yada.POS TO THE EXTREME.

I don't know about either one but I have always heard you had a 50/50 chance on a 951 grenadeing. I have yet to ever here anything bad about a Yamaha. If they made cars I would own one. I admit I know nothing about couches though.

The RXX is a factory race boat already setup with all the goodies...it would dfinately be the faster of the two in stock form. If you don't mind some tinkering the rxx would be my choice.

The that air intake design was only really a problem on the GSX and XP-Limited Ski's b/c of how the engine sits in the hull. It was a late 90's problem anyways... (It was a huge problem!) The RXX came out in like 2001 and ran to 2003 it was a fully race prepped boat based off of the RX platform... The guys at seadoo took an RX and added all the aftermarked goodies they could think of. It was an attempt to dominate in stock classess since it came from the factory all hopped up already...

They fixed the water problem with a different air box and the motor mounts are different so the engine sits in the hull differently...

Seadoo was the first and for the longest time the only Manufacture to use Engines specifically designed for watercraft... You won't find the particular Rotax engines found in Seadoos in anything but Seadoo's unless it is some home brewed contraption. Rotax engines have long been known for reliability and longevity in Ultra-Light avaition...

Yamaha and Kawi took engines from there other product lines and figured out a way to put them in a boat... Until recently...

Go with the Seadoo...

The cases are a pain to get the water out of,really?
I had one come in Saturday that sank,it sank because some nimrod installed a VTS unit in and left off the spacer for the VTS and the rubber washer that seals up the VTS to the hull.I removed the airbox, that took about 30 seconds, pulled the 6mm allen head rear cylinder case drain bolt about 2 minutes work tops, drained the rear cylinder, removed the spark plugs, spun it over reinstalled the front plug grounded the rear spark plug lead and fired it up,spit out the rest of the water ,buttoned it back up and went riding. The whole thing took about 5 minutes.I guess it all depends on if you know what you are doing or not.:booty:

SKIP the rxx - the RX's 951 is already a ticking bomb, let alone the race version - I was talking to a guy two days ago who told me rxx's need regular rebuilds every 10-20 hrs.......

I just repaired a clients 2000 RX that a tech royally screwed up on him and this boat is stored outside year round, after i did a bunch of work to it correcting the last techs mistakes the boat ran great. And this is a ski that dieseled on me when i first got it started. The owner was very happy with the performance of the boat. After all the fine tuning on the carbs the boat ran great, i was able to nose stab this couch of small boat wakes, and the thing gets up and moves as well. After all this engine had been through it still has not grenaded, and the last tech ran the entire cooling system backwards, the thing still hasnt popped. Im impressed with the 951's durability! just my .02!

Piss on the 951. Get the 1200 r install the wave eater clips and be done with it. Go premix for even less problems. I have a blown 951 in the backyard thats getting parted while my boat with twin 1200's never gave me a problem. To can the next argument they only last as long as you take care of them, they sure do but do you really need to give a ski oral every friggin day so it doesnt blow up. Screw that.

The RXX requires an engine tear down for maintenance every 22-24hrs. of use. They are very different than a std. RX model.

The RXX has nearly every mod available straight from the factory, so there is little potential for improvement. Nice riding boat, but go beyond the maintenance schedule and you will blow up the motor ( piston pin bearing failure)

The GP1200R is a nice riding boat with lots of potential for improved performance with less extensive maintenance. Properly modified it will do nearly 90mph.
