I'm in a tight squeeze my motor blew on my surf boat last weekend
I was planning on putting a Dasa in it in 2-3 months.. I really want to make Lm team weekend in a few weeks. The motor needs a full rebuild

I'm thinking about just getting a sbt motor for the time being them I can ride for the time being then use the motor as a spare or put it in my square cause it doesn't get ridden much.... Can I get people's opinions on those motors I've heard lots of bad and good

If not ill just let my surf boat sit for a few months till I stack cash for my Dasa and ride my x2 or b1 at team weekemd

I have also heard good and bad.

If it was me i would just shred my other ski's till I have the money for the motor I really want.

That's what I'm thinking about doing. Just sucks that my rn is what I ride the most and it's too early in the season for b.s like this to happen

61x motor melted rear rings and lost compression shavings in motor and cracked front piston .. It'll still coast $6-700 to rebuild it right.. I'm just. Debating on what I want to do

Add me on Facebook if you want to see pics of the motor carnage I don't feel like uploading them

Sounds liKE all you need is piston kits, bore / hone, gaskets and crank seals ???? Unless you don't know how to rebuild a motor ya you might wanna save some Mula$

sbt motors arent that bad i used them for customers and have never had one come back. But at the same time if you only got a couple months till you get a dasa why waste the money on the sbt

I also need crank rebuilt from the metal shavings on the motor. I was going to rebuild the motor my self I've never done a jetski motor but I've done plenty of dirt bikes

ive installed them for years and have had no issues. most of the bad is from improper install on the customer end. they dont ask you to prove you know how to diagnose and swap a blown motor, just that you want to. I have 2 couches with their motors and have no trouble going on jeez 5 years? 6?

Buy an SBT crank, buy a piston kit, bore and hone,$500 and new motor. ^^^^this guys idea aint so bad either^^^

By the time you're done with gaskets, boring work, and consider your own time - you would have been much better off getting a shortblock. Been there, done that.

I have 2 sbt motors. Both excellent. Great customer service. Perform as well as the oem motor that was in ski.
SBT has there own lake they build motors and run them till they give up. They find weakness and improve on it. They have great proven methods for building cranks. Never had a piston failure with budget or coated pistons from them riding in the surf mostly.
