Today at work I'm working with a chemist with a new type of chemical that is organic, ithis stuff is strong like hydrocloric acid but envio frendly and you can get it on your hands and it won't do anything, it targets what ever you tell it to, they use this stuff in vancover to wash off big boats.
He told me there is one for salt, I ask if it would hurt alum or gaskets he is about 90% sure it won't but he is going to check, if everything works out does anybody want to send me old parts that are in bad shape and I'll see how this stuff works, I don't have any salted out parts

Its hard to beat water brotha. Salt isn't a toxic substance you know, most of us put it on our food. Water washes away salt completely. I see guys spending $50+ on a bottle of salt away and just laugh.

This isn't a regular chemical it's a bio-chemical, after seeing it work today with what we were using it's amazing we are watching rust and greese just fall off the pipes we are flushing, can't wait to try it on ski parts

Salt-Away breaks down and removes salt build-up with repeated use.Salt-Away can safely be used on all metals, fiberglass, paint, rubber, plastic, chrome, glass, concrete, brick or any surface exposed to salt. Salt-Away, mixed with water, washes away the salt then leaves a protective film on surfaces until surfaces are again exposed to water or salt. Special high-performing corrosion inhibitors in the product help protect metals from corroding if not rinsed off. Salt-Away will not strip wax or cause streaks or spots. It is easy to apply by using pressure or power washers capable of dispensing chemicals, Salt-Away's special Mixing Unit, the ready-to-use spray bottles for smaller jobs, and by immersing items into a mixture of Salt-Away and water.

Of course the manufacturer is going to tell you there product is necessary. They play off your paranoia with a well written add campaign, and laugh all the way to the bank as you spend $50 for a small bottle of there product. Bottom line, I live in Oceanside and ride 100% salt water. I ride a lot, averaging 3 times per week, year round. I flush with fresh water ONLY. The last time I pulled my motor apart (My crank bearings went out after who knows how many years of riding), the water jackets in my cylinder were completely clean. No Salt or other mineral build up at all. You can do what you want, if using Salt away lets you sleep better at night then, well, its your money, I guess that catchy add campaign worked. It’s easy to spot an inlander by who uses that stuff. No locals here use it, you don’t need it, just trying to save you some cash.

I can see the use for this for sure ... I mean, right now I have three machines apart in the garage, and the salt is caked up hard in just about every place you could think of. One example is the pump, I had it out of the ski for paint, and now that I want to put it back in, there's just nothing taking the caked up salt off of the thing right around the four bolt holes. I've tried salt-away, sitting it in water for about an hour, and lime-away but there are still deposits of salt on top of the factory paint.

I'd rather not use a wire wheel or brush on them because that's remove the factory paint ... but if I could just spray something on, that'd rock.

Dude, I know you are not a newb here. I take your post as a joke.
As on topic... well.. there is NOTHING, I repeat NOTHING, that can wash the salt away (huh? what's in the name?..) and make your parts as good as new.
I'd rather remove the factory paint, who paints the pumps anyway?
