I have a few questions about combinations for the FX-1 when running the SJ pumps.

Stock FX-1 pump shoe or the SJ pump shoe?

Plastic or Aluminum (if aluminum, who's?)

Which intake grate, FX-1 or a SJ one? ( I have Protec right now)

What ride plate?

What is the best carb setup? Mine is bpiped, and 170 compression right now... looking to add an msd enhancer or TL, porting, lightened flywheel.

Anything else aside from a 66E platform?

Just want to know what works for you guys :hail: and what to start looking for

Use the superjet pump shoe and port the intake track to it
I used oem the first time without issues but now I use the aluminum ones
Made my own intake grates with only a small scoop in the middle ( similar to the protec if you cut the outer blades off )
I found I like the stock rideplate best after the mod
it will handle all the power you can put to it

also I use an adjustable trim ring and a protec nozzel to dial in how the ski rides
this is a neccesity in my opinion

144 conversion thanks to Bonzia Bob with FX1 pump shoe cut out to match the pump diameter, then reglassed to seal it up again. FX1 intake and plate - Protec. Doing the SJ pump shoe conversion requires the change to SJ grate and plate. We did not mod the intake area of the pump and do not have ANY cavitation issues and plenty of power with the B pipe. No motor mods, yet, haven't had the boat long and didn't get too many rides after the pump conversion yet.

i'm going to take my die grinder to my fx1 shoe tomorrow. there is alot of aluminum to remove but it looks do'able.

I believe it can only be opened up to 130mm. Be carefull if you go through the alum you will have a hole in your pump shoe. It is hollow.

I run the Blowsion alum SJ pump shoe with the 144 pump. Jet dynamics "D" cut plate with Pro Tec intake. I will be cutting out the front part of the pump tract to install a SJ tract. Then I will run a SJ intake.

We didn't measure how wide the opening was after grinding, but certainly didn't see any holes/hollow areas in the pump shoe during the process. I'll double check with the hubby, he did that part of it while I was working, but I saw it at multiple stages in the process and didn't notice anything like that.

Just talked to the hubby and he says, yep it's hollow. He just filled the space with fiberglass afterwards.

Edit, and he says that he got it out to within 1/4" of the SJ pump diameter, so around 138, 140'ish I imagine.

i got started on enlarging the shoe yesterday. after measuring you will grind thru if you want to get anywhere close to matching up to a 144 pump. i'm not sure if i'm going with this or a sj shoe.

instead of finishing the grinding i was epoxying the plate that the carb side mount mounts sit on. i noticed i had alittle flex there so i started prying with a screwdriver. alot of flex! marked the plate for placement, removed, sanded, cleaned. bolted the cases to the m mounts then to the plate then set it in place.

anyone have a sj shoe?
