running problem

i have a b1 with a bpipe. i replaced all of the electrics because they had water in them at one time. now it does not want to start after it is killed. it has a primer, but with the k&n off i can hold my hand over the top of the carb and choke it and it will start. any ideas on why it won't start without choking it?

thanks,

i also need to know what the carb settings should be for this set up.

stock engine with a bpipe. the carb should be jetted properly. just need to know the screw settings to get it going correctly.

it sat for a while. i am going to go through the carb tomorrow. the ski use to run then they got water in the ebox. some one thought the best thing to do was to remove the fuse. the cdi quit so i replaced every thing in the ebox. i am not sure where to start the screws at after i take apart the carb.

someone on here had the spec's posted up I am sure you could search and find them or check a service manual I am sure there is one you can download... but before you take them out screw them in and count the turns so when you put it back together you can start from there...

the kicker to that is swooperjet already tuned the ski before i replaced all the electrics. i know for a fact he can't tune a ski. i put them to what his blaster was set at since his has a pipe also.

thats good news. make sure you poke through the tiny holes in the throat with a wire and use carb cleaner to spray out all the passages.

if the screws were already set right count the number of turns in before you take them out.

you know i have to jack with you after you carb adjusting on your kawi. especially when we found out it was a cracked line blowing water on your flame arrestor. no wonder that carb never could be tuned.:dunno:

I know....and I also know that I know pretty much squat about tuning carbs:aargh4:. Wish I did....then this thread wouldn't have been needed and we could have rode our asses off today!!

it's lean. have you been through those carbs yet? has it run set up this way?

you hit it on the head. i pulled the jets and the large jet was soo clogged it only had about a pin hole getting through. blew it out and put it back together. now i just need to set the screws, install, and water test.

now i need more primer line. installed the bulb primer since the plunger wasn't working and now the lines won't reach.

any one have the carb setting for a stock 701 44mm carb with bpipe?

thanks

120 pilot
145 main
2.3 n/s or use stock needle and seat
95 gram spring
high 1 and 1/4 out
low 1 turn out
settings are for stock carb and b pipe

i really appreciate the settings. i set them to my buddies setting on his ski and they where still a little off, it did not like to hit out of the hole. i will try these setting when i go out next time.

thanks
