I had the idea of maybe trying to add foam to the tubes on my rrp pole. The idea would be fill it with what ever foam I can find to fit(not two part) then finding a way to plug the tops and bottoms of the tubes. Then making a hole with a rubber grommet cables to go through.

Question: Has any one ever done this?

Do you think this would flip the boat up when in the surf.

Would it keep it a float incase of sinking?

I am open to thoughts ideas and suggestions.

Never heard of anyone doing it.

I do not think it will right the boat.
It may be enough to prevent a sinking, but if it's that close....

Ideas: Where are you running your control cables?

Matt, go to home depot and get pipe insulaton foam that will just fit inside the tubes, should leave room for cables and such...

Well.......the FR does not have hood breathers, so all breathing must happen through the pole. We'll see if it's enough for the 1,000.

Good point, I forgot about that, I know many run just that with the Rickters and such but it seems like its no where enough for a big motor if you want it to work right..

I forgot about the ski breathing from the pole. I am just throwing around some ideas. I am getting an a/m hull that wont have any foam so just looking for some insurance... just incase.

Vision. I could be wrong about the no foam thing. I just figured no one was puting it in their hulls when building any more.

Usually even no foam hulls are sealed. They don't just sink, they float just fine. The only way for those to sink is to have the rear break open, like in a bad collision. And in that case, a couple of pool noodles won't save it.

There are some special case no foam hulls though...like the ROK-R. It is an open compartment from the nose all the way to the back. And for those hulls, again, a couple of pool noodles won't save it.

Yeah I saw the video from Daytona with the guys vision bobbing tail up. So it does float fine. If this wouldn't rite the ski in the surf then I am not to worried about it then.
