Roundnose OEM waterbox fit into square?

Yes, I run one.

You will have a hard time getting the hoses on because the RN box has bigger outlet and inlet pipes but it's do-able.

If you want to run a dual exhaust with the RN box than it will be a bit tight but again is do-able.

why? the SN waterbox is fiberglass and prone to breaking - not to mention it's heavier than a RN waterbox, and the outlet pipe is smaller than a RN as well.

Sweet. I don't mind stretching out the exhaust tubing.
My squarenose box is leaking from about 5 different places and making my hull all gunky.

Well, the short answer is NO, you can't really easily put a roundnose waterbox in a squarenose. I use the stock exhaust tube from pipe to waterbox; that tube is like 3/8 thick rubber and does not bend very well.

Update: the roundnose waterbox fits perfectly well in a squarenose. I had it turned the wrong way.
Always work on your ski in the correct frame of mind.
