So, did you have any trouble mounting the stock roundnose bracket onto the squarenose hull? What did you do about the holes in the hull for the old bracket - fill them with epoxy or leave them as is?

Are you happy with this setup?

I used the stock holes to mount the backing plate I made. I just used the square bracket as a template for the backing plate. I had already reinforced under there, so I think this is pretty solid. I'm happy with it, and don't plan to change it anytime soon.

What did you do to reinforce - just lay glass? I'm working on my hull right now and am wondering what to do while I've got her this way.

If you glued some glass in, did you push it into all the nooks and crannies, or keep it flat?

make sure surface is ground down and wrap 1-2 pieces depeneding on the mat u are using on the underside and one on top going up all the sides and that sould be fine. soak are b4 and after applying mat one at a time pushing out all the air bubbles. ill post pics soon

Yep. What he said. I put 3 layers under there. There is a bump that I had to grind down to make my backing plate lay flat. Some people fill the sides in with foam to make bigger flat area to lay the glass.

As far as the pole not going up far enough. If you mod the bracket it will go up farther, but the reason it doesn't go up any farther is it will bind on the cable. I kind of like having the pole being limited as it keeps you from getting lazy and standing straight up all the time.

wouldnt that make you a dumper jumper?:lightning:

Jeez, how many washers are on there?

So is there a way to do this with a stock RN bracket? I didnt want to read through the whole thread. Just thought i would ask.

6 washers per side. ill fabricate 2 spacers later if these become a problem... which i dont see how they would be. theres no play at all... i had to push the last washer in firmly with a screwdriver, but didnt have to bang it in (to give an idea of how snug it is). the spring is an old 550 spring that i bent up to fit and it went in really easy and makes the pole nice and bouncy.

a round bracket will work, but makes the pole sit high... read the thread. lots of good info here.

Thats exactly who mine looked too, so with the griding how far could it go up, i take it you ground all the way so you could see the 4 square holes in the bottom of the pole.

i didnt have to grind far enough into the pole to cause the little open squares at the bottom, because i ground a lot off the bracket to compensate. im happy with the travel height of the pole.

damn good idea on the bracket, any pics of the front of that, did you do two indents where the sides of the pole dig in or just straight across? I think with a lil reinforcing under the bracket and it should work pretty good for us, maybe you did that already.

im not sure what you mean by the 2 indents where the sides of the pole digs in.

i ground everything off of the bracket so it resembled a thick, ugly version of an xmetal bracket, drilled and tapped away. i even used the stock SN pole stop after a bunch of grinding.

the bracket doesnt need any reinforcing though. i didnt grind THAT much.... in fact, i dont even need a pole prop pin to hold the pole up because when the pole is all the way up, it stays because its hitting the bracket ever so slightly. i could grind more but then id need to rig a pole prop.

its all about grinding......
