Where would you drill new holes for a wider backing. Not sure I understand this concept. Does anyone have any pictures of this?

Are those vinyl washers between the pole and bracket? Seems like stainless steel would offer more support. I would think the vinyl would tend to give a little.

yes and you are right, after 5 rides the pole lost some of its tightness, im just waiting till I really start riding again to fix all the little things after my build. Im going to get two spacers made instead of washers.

Don't waste your time and money on a UMI or AC pole. Look at all the Oceanside ridders, stock reinforced poles. Cheaper and you can chnge up the length if you want to go shorter. Also very strong.

There's some pics in this thread when I put a round pole on my square using the round bracket. I made backing plate for it. I'm putting my boat back together now, and I'm gonna use the square bracket instead. It sits about an inch lower. I just had to grind a little off the end of the pole, and put some washers in there like others have said. I'll take some pics of both before I put it back together.

sorry to bring this thread back form the dead... but has any body found that grinding the bottom of the stock round pole causes it to become weaker, or is it negligible?

i think thats the bracket im running. i have a stock round nose pole on my square. bracket works great, mounts in stock location. just have to get roundnose bushings from blowsion or soemthing. just make sure you tighten the crap out of those 2 bolts cause i have to tighten mine after every ride. smother them in locktite too.
