RN Superjet Bendix question?

Alright I was having problems with my Bendix not engaging after I filled my motor up with water one day. They starter was just spinning and not engaging. So from what I read its sounded like it was the bendix. So I took the cover off and didn't really know how to pull the fly wheel so I just tried to clean the bendix and re grease it. When I put the cover back on it would just click. So i figured that I had better take the fly wheel off and soak the bendix in some ATF. Which I have done for the past few day. Now my question is should the bendix spin free when I try to spin it. I mean it will move But I thought that maybe it should spin more free. Also how the heck am I supose to press that flywheel back on.

And off subjet of that does any one know where I can get and adaptor for my carbs since my throttle cable is to long for my new throttle.

Thanks in advance.

One very important question, did you get the water out of the engine and run it to make sure it was clear of water?

How did you clean, grease, and soak the bendix without taking the flywheel off, Houdini?

Yes I made sure I got all of the water out and ran it a bit. I took the cover off twice the first time I didn't know how to pull the fly wheel so I just sprayed the bendix down with brake clean and tried to grease it the best I could. After that didn't work I took it apart again and found out how to remove the flywheel and now it is soaking in ATF.

Soak it in mineral spirits (solvent), work/spin it a bit in that to really clean it out, then soak in ATF, let drip dry and it should be fine. If not, then replace it. John Zigler sold me my used one and it was almost perfect.

The gear should spin one way, not the other, and it should throw forward easily but also return.

Put the flywheel key back in place.

Then slide the flywheel on in the right position (line up the slot with the key).

One of these days I need to write up an electrical troubleshooting flowchart for everyone.

12vdc goes to start/stop button, goes through lanyard switch and start button, comes back to brown wire to solenoid
solenoid 'clicks' as it pulls the contacts inside together to complete the circuit from the battery cable to the starter cable
starter spins

ways to test things:
jump across pins in connector from electrical box to rule out start/stop button
jump across solenoid posts to rule out solenoid
pull starter out and use jumper cables to energize it directly, it should have a lot of torque when it spins
check voltages at different places

That's the basics.

u see if your e box has water in it? clicking is normally a bad relay or a weak conection at the starter or batt

Do what Jet is telling u to do u have to rule out each part
