Other River camping in CA???

I'm looking to take the family and try a few new places this year and I'd love some input from anyone who has been to either Blythe or Kings River.

Ideally I would love to be able to set up a tent as close to the water as possible and be able to beach my skis right at my camp sight. Do either one of these places allow that???

Best area to stay? Pros and Cons for both places are greatly appreciated as well.

Thanx-

Forget Blythe (I've never been to Kings River) and head south to the area between the Imperial Dam and Lake Martinez.

Hands down the best section of the entire lower Colorado river. The whole area is honey combed with reed trails and back water lakes. Unless you’re in the everglades or something flat water riding doesn't get any better. You can tent camp and leave your skis parked on the beach at Squaw Lake just East of Senator Wash. Bring a wagon, you have to tote your gear from the parking lot to the beach front campsites though. No worries, keeps out anyone who’s not hard core!

Still Fat....
i'll admit it... they are some great areas to ski
kindda wish i had spent time in that Sqaw lake area, so nice

Furgeson lake was our favorite riding area, and there are plenty to places to setup there, as well as staying at Martinez lake resort
the weather is HOT and sunny, but makes the water absolutely enjoyable
and as 227 said... OMG... such a variety of terrain to traverse
and not much 5.0 in the area
We liked staying in the far back area of Furgeson
downside was we didn't have fuel there and if you run out or break your battery like someone i know has done many-a-times... the tow back can be ummmm quiet amusing as Phil can attest to

We didn't get a chance to spend time in Parker, but Havasu was nice as well
