It does get the pole lower. It felt goofy the first time I tried it but the riser setup isn't bad. I may switch out to it soon.....
I need to post a pic of my straight bars.... they aren't so straight anymore.

Not pole position rider body position, the pole won't get any lower than the hood will allow.

IDK...it does feel more comfortable on your body when putting the pole lower. For example: when riding up to a wave to do a roll. I have not ridden with them for an extensive amount of time though.
