If your doctor tells you that exercise is bad for you, find a different doctor.

Are we talking normal high blood pressure from a western diet and no exercise or chronic heart disease...big difference.

I have slightly hi bp for being 32 and athletic. Its in my genes, i take something for it, but i personally would never hesitate to ride as much and as hard as possible in any conditions. But thats me, im not giving any advice, just sharing my experiences.

It helps me. Had high bp since 17, genes, and diet. In my 20's, riding skis just about eliminated it since I rode 3-5 times a week. In highschool football & weight lifting helped too. Seems that sweating & regular exercise is the best meds for my high BP, & my keeping my weight down.
But these days, too much work & too much wrenching means less ride time. So I have to take the little pill. But I also check my bp @ home daily too & keep it under control. And I gotta eat better as it just doesn't burn off like it used to.

You lifted weights l have read to not lift weights that's the other reason for riding a standup with out a aftermarket pole spring, weight resistance training

When I used stock handle poles, I always seemed to have minor lower back issues, which forced me to take more breaks. I started using aluminium poles, (mostly cuz I broke the stock ones over and over) and the lower back has not been an issue.
I find that if you don't at least do some minor calisthenics and stretching daily and you just eat and work a non-physical type of job, stand up skis will kick your ass and you will be very sore come tomorrow

But that's just me, your mileage may vary.
