Would anyone be willing to contribute to a periodic publication online? Kind of like XMI was, but free, and in electronic form only to begin with?

I'm sure we could do something with as many talented/enthusiastic/passionate people we have on here.

Heck, even just a freeride blog to start with. I can set that up fairly easily and if it goes far enough, we start publishing it somehow. Maybe a new thread for this?

Tom. I think its a great idea.

I think a stand alone website with a link from here however would be best. Kinda like fullgaz, but directed towards articles on the x-h2o rides. Somethiing about making it independent from the forums feels right:dunno:

Id be willing to write up an article on budget build ups for freestyle beginers. what we really need is someone who is a trick webdesigner

Local preference? I don't know.
But it I seem to remember that not one single east coaster was picked for the JK contest last year, despite several open "reserve" slots and dropouts.

I don't really have a point, other than: it happens, and goes both ways.

JK event was an invitational event, he could only get the permit for 16 riders (he obviously wanted more). He had to choose the 16 riders he thought best to put on a good show, without hardly ever riding with any East Coast guys how was he to know who was capable? From pics on the internet? The East Coast guys made a huge stink over it too, I remember when it was first announced a few prominent members on the board said they were buying plane tickets and wouldn't miss it for anything, then no one from the East Coast got picked and no one from the East Coast showed up to the only freeride comp in the US for 06'??? No offense intended to any East Coast guys just shedding some light on this.

Joe rode with Pete in Galveston 2005, Daytona 2006, He also rode with Nick in Daytona 2006 and if I am not mistaken at the Blowison party 2004, there is also John "Suicide" Havell also in Daytona 2006........... there were 3 riders that JK knows about that would have been good competitors..... but that is water under the bridge now..............

Water under the Bridge.... Just so you know... I was told that I was going to be picked for that.... and I personally skipped the Nationals, 2 races and 2 freerides, so I could have the $$$ to send me, wife and ski out to the pismo comp.... then it turned out not so good... so what...
I know sponsors were not that happy I missed some important events but... what you going to do... Done over....
We can plan new stuff this year... we all learing to do/be better.

Riding with them for a weekend in small surf shows all of their skills? I wasn't saying any of those guys weren't qualified compete (they are overqualified in my opinion), I was just saying how he made the decision had nothing to do with the East West crap.

Well, it would be nice if you were more specific in your comments. I don't fall under your blanket assesment.. I would appreciate if you not lump me into very vauge generalized statement like that....

With all due respect. Why would you show up to a competition if you were not picked to ride????

As I said before it was Joes ride and I accepted that he had his own idea of how things should work..

I didn't mention you or Pete into my comments, but it is kinda funny you both responded in 2 minutes. No offense was intended to anyone in my comments, sorry if it was took that way.

Just for you Jerry, I will tell them to make sure if there are west coasters there... they are the best in the world and better put their pics all over...

Maybe I struck a nerve here or something, because there's no reason to be such a dick about it. I was making an observation, and I trust me, I wasn't the only one to take notice.

For the sake of salvaging what I thought were friendships around here, I've deleted most of what I started to write. I'll be stepping away from the site for a while....maybe I'll see you guys on the water sometime.

I am sorry Jerry.... That was too much ! Seriously My bad !

None of you guys really know me as I haven't been on here long and have only made it to the Lone Star Freeride, but I must say that this thread seems to be so out of character for everyone on this site and in this sport.

I am completely new to this and yes I bought a couch, but I have been accepted and welcomed like I have been here all along. It doesn't appear that any of this bickering will result in anything positive. This sport will grow more with suggestions, not bickering.

Just my newby 2 cents worth.

I was making a general reference, out of respect I shouldn't have used that as an example. The person I actually lost respect for doesn't even post on here as far as I know. Anyway enough of this thread jack, I was just trying to say the East West thing shouldn't have been brought up. I do see Jerry's point and think his intentions were good, he was disappointed in an article and who wouldn't be? We want to see flips, rolls, carnage, thongs, etc. He didn't say AWA was bad just the article sucked.

Thanks for clearing that up Zach...

I want no beef with anyone. I just know if I had not said anything people might think i was "that guy" and I don't wanna be him...

I agree totally 100%...
