Repair OEM SJ hanpole pad tab info

(attn: demolition_x)

For those that run stock pole and stock pad.

I recently repaired a torn round-nose SJ handpole pad...the front mount/tab. I figured maybe someone would find it helpful and use it as a repair info or add this plate for preventive maintenance.

Cost to repair is free if you have scrap aluminum plate or you can pick up aluminum plate stock (2' x 1.5" x .125") at HomeDepot. Pop-rivets are 3/16" aluminum (.250" long). This should only take 5 minutes.

Pictures below are self explanatory:

I done that mod a few years ago but done it from the other side so that I didn't have to pull the cover off. It works great unless you do relly fast subs like 25 to30 MPH the aluminum tab in the center will still bend so that the pad sits off of the pole.. I finally just removed the aluminum plate and returfed the stock plastic cover and ran 2 license plate screws through it into the pole.. NO problems now.
