FX-1 Removeing The Pump Shoe

I wonder if that hood seal is big enough for my sn? Its in dire need of a seal. If it will i'll buy it off of ya. You got a pressure tester made for your motor? I have one if you need it. Its kinda ghetto but works.

Yeah I have one I use for carbs. What did you use to block off the mani holes?

The hood seal should fit. You can have it.

Man you'll never guess what I found on the side of the road in Yellville AR today. Anyone wanna buy this ?

Since I only have a stock pipe right now I just block off my ex ports with some scrap vinyl flooring sandwiching it with my stock pipe. Anything rubber works best, like an old tire inner tube or a scrap piece of radiator hose cut to your shape you need. Just put the rubber between your carb/headpipe and tighten it down.

I really wanted to hear the fruit of my labor yesterday so I did stuff out of order.

I installed the primer. I like the lawn mower type over the plunger type. I bought this one in 95' not sure if their made anymore. They work just as good as long as their primed and their softer on body parts.

The Twist head was milled for the stock thermal shut off pick up. I put a Radier 1100 in, its a two hundred degree shut off.

Put on a $2 inline fuel filter.

Opened upped up the stock flame arrester.

Used the foot scrubber from the dollar store to smooth out the pole pad turf.

Did a compression check. Wow I thought I was building a 175 psi motor. I always run 50/50 pump 93 and 116 mix anyway so no big deal the speed shop is just down the street. I feel the 116 mix gives better throttle response on a stocker.

Reran compression test again, 2 or 3 times. It is a cheap tester but still have 190 + psi in both cylinders. It used to have 175. I'm kind of worried about it. I did trim the old plastic piece head gasket (could not find a new one) between the head and cylinder a little. Part of it sat, hung over between where the dome its self sit's on top of the cylinder, that's the part I trimmed. I did check squash clearance. Stuck some solder down the hole and turned it over, 57 thousands. I'm good on that part right? Where did the extra 15 psi come from?
Will it go to around 175 once it broke in?

Maybe your old top end was a little low on compression and once you put the head on the new top end you gained some compression? Do you know what cc's that twist head is? I know on oring heads 35cc is about max for pump gas. As long as you didnt take any off any thickness on that plastic gasket it shouldnt be any different. Ive read that some have run as low as .035" squish on domed pistons so your fine there. I bet you have some high compression domes.

I wanna know about this "squash clearance", are you growing a garden shawn ?

Hehe, I'm not a great speller plus I spell like I speak sometimes.

You'll read high compression numbers until its broke in.

Thanks shank, been reading and its what I'm seeing. I was thinking other way around. Was told the head had the 185 psi domes.

I'm thinking I may ride Sunday. Water temp is 50 here.

I know its kinda off topic, but hey I finished my FX1.

How to get a discounted trip (holiday) to Europe.

Find something you buddy (mate) their wants.
Pack it in a couple of suit cases.
Get air fair.
Deliver it.

Won't be the first time airport workers have bitched about my bags, hehee. I will build a suit case out of plywood and pack it all in.

Ive never been overseas.
You need to go then! It can be eye opening.

Put the FX1 on the scales 289 pounds wet. I put My stock one on and its 298 pounds wet.

The 500 is on its way to France. Very nice people at haullbikes.com. They haul skis too! He said around a grand coast to coast.$400 a few states.

Got some video for you guys!

Got 3 gallon of fuel ran thru it so far. No more cavitation from the pump. It's on hit but I think I can get a little more out of the bottom boring the X2 nozzle, I'm hoping. The mid is arm ripping. It dies on the top but its plenty fast for me, still have tweaking to do. I'm at 1 1/2 turns on the low 2 1/2 on the high. Plugs look great at 25 to 1 oil mix. I had the pipe set 1 turn on the top closed on the middle and bottom. Wound up going to two on top, one on the mid and closed on the bottom, its stuck closed. Working good that way. The pipe was a little hot (it would sizzle water) with just one on the top. I went by specialfx's set up pretty much on the hole ski, hehee, thanks special. His set-up is on the edge on my ski. I like a little more lee way. To me its loud as hell. I'm sure the neighbors are very happy with my ski now. You can build a home anywhere on our lake but straight across the cove. Its a national flower garden park their, hehee.

The water was a nice 62 degrees.

To me its the same FX1 but a lot mo better! Over all I'm very happy with and can't wait to get more time on it.
