Reinforcement and you B-Pipe

Alright...I've read a few posts about reinforcing the side of your ski and having trouble re-installing your B-Pipe. Can anyone shed some light on what they had to do to get it in?? Thanks

Is it ok if the pipe lightly rubs the rib? My bpipe that I just put it in barely rubs a rib. I was able to slide a piece of hyrdoturf between the pipe and rib. Should it be ok by doing that?

I ground the ribs before reinforcing, and the pipe still rubs. I have no idea how you'd make it fit if you just reinforce over the ribs.

I haven't reiforced yet and I probably wont for a little while. I just wanna make sure it's ok if the pipe does rub in the rib a little with a piece of turf in the middle.

If pipe rubs the hull any where it will cause a messy situation inside the hull and some of that has to be getting through your FA's, not sure if thats all that bad but it does get nasty in bilge area. Just grind it or dent pipe next time you remove chamber.

So you're saying that the hyrdoturf will rub away causing small fragments of turf to make it into my intake?

You don't want the pipe touching the hulll anywhere .And having small pieces of turf in your bilge is ugly too .probably not good for your motor either .

grind the ribs and lay on the reinforce with as little glass as possible is the only way it will fit reinforced .you have to grind a bit more for a TNT

You definitely do not want the pipe within 1/4" of the side of the hull. If you have this situation, put a piece of Hydro-Turf in there. Take a notice next time how much your motor (and pipe) vibrate. You will wear a hole through your hull in time (see pic).

Then how do you adjust so that your pipe is far enough away from the side. Right now mine is prolly 1/8" away and i know it rubs a bit. Im worried how close it will be after the reinforcement.

I tried cutting back the elbow hose a little more bringing the pipe closer to the waterbox thus bringing it furthur away from the hull . Thats the only thing I can think of.

I'm just going to give it a try with a piece of turf and see how it works.

I can't even really see the turf that I have in there and if you look hard enough it actually looks pretty good.

The only thing rubbing is between the weld of the pipe and the rib and I think the turf will do a good job of preventing damage to the hull or pipe. I just don't see how it wouldn't be good for your motor.:dunno:

You could have the cylender side of the exhaust manifold milled down to move the whole set up off the hull (seems extreme huh). Or you can grind the ribs down and fit the pipe making sure its twisted right so it misses the hull and the motor mount (fine line here). Or , you can dent the piss out of the pipe. Tight fitting little bastards they are.

Yeah thats for sure. Now I see why people say they go with the mod pipe just for the fact that it fits better.

Turf wears off (rubber hose material is better) but better still grind the rib. The vibration alone is not good (long term) for motor mounts, pipe couplers and so forth and so on.
