Registration numbers on a Rickter FS-1

new%20parts%20061.jpg

I got a ticket the other day (on another ski) and now I am a little gun shy and want to get my Rickter 100% legal, so I have to add ugly TX numbers to this beautiful hull. Any suggestions on what style design to get (and where to get it)? I would LOVE to get a font similar to the Rickter script on the ski.

Thanks,

Aaron

That sucks, I got all my Numbers on the inside of the hood. Never had any troubles down here. I think some of our guys don't even have numbers, LOL

That sucks to put ugly numbers on that hull!!! I would try the pole & see what happens.

TX law is very specific about where reg. numbers are supposed to be placed, which is below the bondline, just aft of the nose. That being said, most peeps down here have the numbers above the bondline on the hull (cuz on a standup below the bondline is stupid). Water cops will usually mention it to you if you have it on the hood (they're supposed to be on a permanant/non-removable part of the boat) and seem even more likely to tell you to change it if you have it on the pole.

Now, I've not seen anybody actually get a ticket for them being in the wrong place, but they will say something, especially if you give them an excuse to stop you (as opposed to, they're just doing routine checks and see they're in the wrong place).

Beyond that, I'd bet they'll have to be custom numbers to look right on that boat.

I have installed TX # on my pole and never had a issue with that said I think they look like Chit on a RRP
I had my TX#s at 2inch for ever and never had a issue I get pulled over at least once a year
Just use a color that can be seen if you dont want to get the
THOSE ARE NOT LEGAL IF I CANT SEE THEM

Aaron, remember the TPW describes the font they want us to use on our watercraft, along with the spacing of letters and numbers. I think it says block style right there on the back of our reg sticker. I know myself and others dont follot it close but this is just a FYI. All watercops I have ran into are complete aholes.

Congrats on the Rickter hull though.

3" tall "block" letters - with the reg sticker placed 3" aft of registration number. also - make sure you put the space or dash where you're supposed to put it.

I don't know how Lewisville is, but Lake Travis park rangers weren't too thrilled with the numbers on Bonzia's SN when he looked at them.

Why not put them BELOW the bond line just like the LAW says? They can't hassle you cuz you're following the LAW. :)

Mine were on the hod when I rode at Grapevine lake and I never had a problem. Even rode out at Lewisville and no one said a thing to me...

it doesn't have to be above or below the bondline -

it has to be placed to be clearly visible. (I looked up the law)

I believe parrdaddy was hassled on Clear Creek for having his reg number on his pole - their belief was that it would be legible with the pole down. WTF?

MICHIGAN: the LAW states to the left of the registration sticker and on the front of the boat, clearly visible, whether it is below or above the "bond line"... spacing between the first two and last two letters.

they are VERY strict about this on any lake i have visited in Michigan - quick excuse to get screwed with... why even risk it?
