Refoam/Drain Plug

I am in the middle of defoaming and have seen quite a few people use the pink construction foam which I think is the route I will be going. A good amount of people have also included a drain plug in the back in case water does get in again. This makes sense to me but then they use the 2 part expanding foam on top to level things off before they glass as well as hold things together. Wouldn't this mean if water does get in again that the foam would be waterlogged again, then making the drain pointless?

Even if the water passes by the 2 part wouldn't it still become waterlogged? Any pictures of your setup or build would be much appreciated.

If you used two part to lock and level it all together, it wouldn't be that much, therefore not adding much weight if it were to get waterlogged. On my build, I'm using all pink foam and no two part. Everything is locked in pretty tight too. To get it flat, I'll be making some panels of glass to cover the spots I cut out. Here's some pics, and I also used full size drain plugs.

That's my drain plug setup.

typically the foam is dry up high and wet down low. So 2-part up top is a good solution in most cases. I did all pink foam though b/c i wanted to make my own footholds...otherwise i would have done 2-part up top to. I used some 80-20 fastners and glassed them in (you could use a wing nut or something along those lines) for a drain system.

You can put drains in the stock water logged foam and it will drain too the waters in the bottom. I used pink foam then layed a layer of 2 part to really lock in all in and reshape the tray then glass over. I made my own tray from scratch. Its super low and wide now 26mm pad under my feet and the whole tray n stil lower than stock tray height. Then for drains we used ss bushings with screw in plugs from mcmaster carr. Were like 8 bucks
