300/440/550 Redline Synthetic vs. Maxima Premium 2

I am currently running Maxima Premium-2 in a bone stock 94 550sx at 40:1. What are the thoughts on Redline Full Synthetic oil?

my thoughts are you're wasting your money. 12$ a gallon walmart oil works just fine.

cheap oil does not burn nearly as well as a good full synthetic. not even close. that cheap crap you putting in you motor, its robbing throttle response and power because it don't burn. i actually noticed a difference. mix up some 32:1 synthetic and 32:1 crap and light it on fire and tell me there is no difference.

true, it is indeed hard to tell on some machines, my weedwacker, chainsaw, antique outboard, lawnboy, not so much, kinda a waste of money but i run one mix for every two stroke i got and even one 4 stroke. when i got sick of the price of good oil i switch to quicksilver which is a great oil and didn;t notice much difference. then i down graded to the cheap motomaster outboard crap. after a few tanks....my ski wasn't running as pissed off feeling as it should, my 2008 stock banshee needed 10 kicks to start instead of 1 kick. I switched back to full synth. changed my plugs and all is good again. so yeah which oil is best? who knows, i use amsoil. for me the more important part is that it is a really good oil which will give good lube, clean the internals, protect against moisture, and actually burn with the fuel instead of slugging it down. i was told by a techy geek that gp bike racers gained 3mph when the switched to a high quality synth. just my thoughts on oil.

If you want your machine to be running at peak performance and you don't mind spending a few extra dollars, grab the full synthetic. Quicksilver is great for the weed eater and the '77 glastron, but neither of these machines are built for high performance. Quicksilver burns dirty...period. When your ski fights a cold start to oil buildup, have fun replacing the starter prematurely. BTW, tell your buddy thanks for trying to save your team some dough by getting the 4-pack of redline off the net...he was just trying to help out. I bet a jug of the stuff that there's no difference between redline and maxima...probably made at the same factory!

i use quiksilver in my mariner 9.9 outboard runs fine but it didnt run well in my 550 tons of white smoke and bogging at 50:1 and your supposed to run 40:1 in a 550

Penzoil semi synthetic around here....was 9.99 a gallon 3 years ago....now 15.99...

I run old deepfry oil I get from the dumpster at McDonalds. Oil is oil, your motor won't know the difference.

Quicksilver Mineral TWC3 , recommended by very good engine builder, burns cleaner than yamahalube i had before,
provides better coating ....I bet opinions differ but I am happy twith the product + wallmart and cheap.
