Reaper, MX1, or V2X to replace Gen1 X2

So I recently dropped a cylinder on my -3" 750 X2 and I'm contemplating selling/parting out a couple skis and starting over with something NEW.

Since I don't have a Yamaha drive train to drop in a hull I'm strongly considering a Krash Reaper RTP but I wanted to hear some opinions on which of the fixed steer AM hulls ride closest to a Gen 1 X2. Krash states they modeled the reaper after the B1 and while I don't dislike a B1, every time I ride my buddies it reminds me how much I love the X2. I mainly ride flat water and chase boat wakes but occasionally make a trip to the surf.

So out of the Reaper, MX1, or V2X which would you say is closest to an X2? Which if any can be deep water boarded from the rear?

Thanks for the help

I came from x2s onto a v2x this summer and couldn't be happier. Its the smallest of the bunch so to me the most x2 like. It took me about 2 weeks to get flips around off boat wakes with a ported 760 in my glass v2x.

Thanks for the replies.

Quinc, alot of good info in that thread, I appreciate the link.

Spindrift7, if you don't mind my asking what pump setup are you running?

I’ve put some hard days of riding in on the reaper. I absolutely love RIDING the ski - I was blown away by the hull design and how It handled in comparison to any x2 or even a waveblaster. I HATE having to deep water start the ski. I am pretty light 170 lbs and have no problem lifting myself up. It just requires some SUPER SERIOUS balance skills. I’m still in the process of building my Mx1. I’m being super picky about that build. Just blew another 3k on random parts. From what I can see the Mx1 is going to be more stable and definitely easier to board. I would complain about the reaper seat tearing my knees and legs up but they have redesigned the seats on the new model and offer the updated version - I can imagine the reaper with new seat is slightly easier to board deep water because you don’t have to get up onto seat as high. ( newer design sits lower )
I personally could not make a decision between reaper / Mx1 / blaster so I ended up just buying them all.. and maybe an sxr1500 along the way also . The v2x I cannot speak on.

Did you ever finish that mx1? I’m curious I have two blasters now and the idea of a mx1 sounds like a great upgrade to me

Waiting on last couple parts from hot products and it’s time to get to cracking on the transplant. I will say that after riding waveblasters and my reaper all past summer there is no comparison. Reaper had me smiling ear to ear ALL SUMMER. I beat the poop out of that ski. Super nimble, flickable. The short size of the hull makes it very fun to ride in all conditions. Interested to see if the same carries over into the Mx1. Mx1 is way wider and little longer (similar to waveblaster) so I’m guessing it going to be a more stable ride. Only bad thing I can say about reaper is there’s lack of stability because of how small it is. You cannot even think about stopping in water without falling off. Waveblaster I can sit completely still. Hoping Mx1 can sit completely still on as well. This summer I will be lining all 3 waveblaster , reaper, and Mx1 all side by side and doing full comparison. I’ve been trying to wait as long as I can so I don’t give mis information about the handling of the Mx1. Just taking a LOOOOONG time to get all parts lined up. Shipping is killing me. I sucked it up and bought a nice 155 h2o mag pump to go in Mx1 as well.

the mx1, and reaper are basically upgraded blasters. i did ride a 2020 reaper in daytona as a riding friend that lives a few hours away just bought one, it was a fun ride and the power output was great. but it handles and rides like a blaster which im not a fan of personally. the v2x will probably most similar to the x2 although nothing will replace the x2 ride.

See Iv heard the reaper handles better than a blaster. More like a fixed steer stand up with a seat. Iv heard mixed about the mx1 but it looks more like a blaster to me.

yes thats why i said "upgraded" blaster haha. reboarding after falling off with the much smaller seat made it easier to get back on. definitely feels too wide to ride like a normal standup.

Reaper ftw. and WOW the mx1 must be pretty big if you can stop on it off throttle and not tip over.

I really appreciate the buoyancy of the Mx1 in the rear tray area. Feels like a mix between reaper & blaster hull. The reaper sprays me in the face SUPER hard when I ride- especially at high speeds. The Mx1 does not do this at all. The dual hood latches on mx1 definitely give the hood a solid feel. I am running a dasa 900 +5mm stroker carbon rrp pipe torrent mag setback 155 skat 10/16 prop (shoutout brian @ torrent for the custom setback driveshaft)
It took me awhile to get this build done , but I wanted it to be proper. That being said - SUPER FUN SKI VERY RESPONSIVE HULL! Im beyond blown away at how nimble this ski feels while still having a wider rear tray & being longer than reaper. The rickter Mx1 feels like it has more “pop” vs the reaper that lacks buoyancy and sinks down in water much easier. I’m excited to push this hull to the limits this summer!
Last detail I have to do is the hood support shocks. I just got my air down bends from ASJP.
I can say that building this ski myself from
The ground up brand new has been one of the most satisfying things I’ve ever done. All the hard work was WELL worth it!

Ps- I ordered the new style seat for my reaper. I have yet to even install it as I see it almost pointless. I don’t sit down on that ski at all. The tray might as well be completely open like the V2x.

Thanks for the write up. I grew up riding quads so I prefer having a seat vs an open tray. It seems like my only options are HX, Wave Blaster, Reaper or MX-1. I don’t know anyone with a Reaper or an MX-1 so it’s a bit of a risk to spend that $ on something I might not like. Back before I gave up standups (my back) I had a Rickter and didn’t really like it. I didn’t want a one trick pony, I want something to chase our boat with for big air but I also want something that handles well. Weight is a big issue. I really miss my Gen 2 X2 but it was a bit heavy as well. I currently have an HX (stock engine) with carbon hood and lightweight battery. I hate the fact I have to keep it stock though (I want something I just jump on and ride). That being said, I’m looking for something more nimble and lighter, sounds like MX-1 might be the ticket. Does the Reaper feel heavier then the MX-1? I’m guessing the bouyoncy plays a part in that.
